💫Start your aerial dance journey!

WHAT: Want to learn the basics of aerial? Are all the apparatus choices intimidating? Think you’re not flexible or strong enough? In this 8 week series we will go through beginner appropriate stretches, conditioning and overall foundations of everything aerial. Learn fabric/silks, sling/hammock, Lyra/hoop, and trapeze while having fun in the upside down world.

PREREQUISITES: No experience necessary. Ages 17+.

WHEN:
* Wednesdays 6:30-7:40 p.m. October 21 - December 16 (No class on 11/25)

INSTRUCTOR: Sofia Rodriguez Sofia Rodriguez

After teaching 4th grade in Austin, TX for 5 years, Sofia ran away to the circus and currently lives in Colorado where she teaches aerial arts and flexibility to various skill levels and ages. As an instructor for over 8 years, single point lyra is her passion but she is adept at teaching dance trapeze, sling, and fabric. She emphasizes form and theory to build skill with not just movement mastery, but with creativity and sequence development as well. Aside from working full-time as an aerial instructor, she has instructed immersions at the Aerial Dance Festival, retreats at Sweet Retreats, and travels to bring her unique workshops to studios across the nation.

WHAT: Come explore the fusion between aerial and pole arts: Flying Pole! We’ll learn how to climb, spin, and create sequences on this giant flying silicone stick. Progressions will be provided. No fly pole experience necessary, but it is not recommended that this be your first ever aerial/pole apparatus. 

WHEN: October 25th, 4:00-5:30 p.m.

WHAT: Come see Gravity Aerial Arts’ 19th season of aerial dance showcases! Our students and staff will take you on a creative journey through worlds of Science & Superstitions! Be mystified as they defy gravity and embrace physics with their strength and flexibility. Thursday’s show will 18 + with some more daring and spicier content! Friday’s show will be all ages with still exciting but also more family friendly content. Snacks and drinks will be served before the show and at intermission.

WHEN:
* Thursday October 8th at 7:00pm - After Dark (18+)
* Friday October 9th at 7:00 pm - Family Friendly

We’ve added another Youth Level 1 Class to our Fall session!

This class will fill up quickly so reserve your spot today!

WHEN:
* Mondays 4:10-5:10 p.m. 10/5-12/14

THE CLASS: This class is for anyone ages 6-10 who wants to learn aerial dance. Students will learn basic skills on the aerial fabric, sling, trapeze & hoop. Practicing aerial dance builds strength, flexibility, coordination, creativity & more. Towards the end of the session the students will work on linking together the skills they’ve learned for the showcase.

FALL BREAK: There will be no classes the week of 11/22-11/28.

PERFORMANCES: There will be a performance in the last class of the session on 12/14.

WHAT: In this 1.5hr workshop we’ll explore spins! Everything from how to spin underneath yourself without a swing or an orbit, tools and practices for alleviating dizziness and tips for nausea and spin related wonkiness! We’ll play with span set spins, side mounts, flares, split spins, etc at multiple heights and explore different ways of entering the hoop! This workshop will help you level up and look more professional with tight, centered spins!
