Very important information when it comes to scouting. Water is of course essential for elk wallows. For instance, in 2019 we had an abundance of snowmelt, there were many options when it came to water sources/wallows.
With a dryer and hotter 2021, it will limit down options for the elk. It's important to find those key spots, especially for archery season.
Remember if you are hot, they are hot! Higher elevations, wallows, deep shady timber on north slopes are the places to look!
Colorado is starting March out only 14% below median. Getting up to average will be tough because the average curve is quite steep this month.
By the way, snowpack is a measurement of how much water is in the snow at the headwaters of our states river systems high in the mountains.
