On this hike at Elk Meadow I was thinking about people and how far they want to go, and how it can seem impossible to get there with where we are currently. I thought instead of thinking about going from 1 to 10, how about going in stages, saying to ourselves 1 to 3, then knowing if we got there we could graduate to 4 to 6 and so on. Recently I started Pilates, and realized as strong as I am, there's still so much to learn, and I'm starting in the beginners class. I want to start with a solid foundation, and build from there. Is there something new in your life you think, I want it, but how will I get there? What do you tell yourself? What would you say to a friend?

Why let our circumstances control us? We have the strength and ability to manage our stability to keep a positive attitude. Instead of wanting our challenges to go away, stand firm in them, gain stability, and look for ways to grow and shine right where you are. Sometimes we end up staying in a situation longer until we learn why we are there in the first place. Life does not always go the way we want it to, but we can choose to find happiness in the midst of it.

Does getting out in nature ever recharge and refresh your mental clarity? Some of my best thoughts have come from going hiking. There's something peaceful in the great outdoors that calms the mind, and allows receiving for the new. When you're searching for the next step, and your mind is loud, get quiet. That's where you'll hear the answer.
