We are more than an Athletic Organization. As a Pilar in the community, our intentions are to show up for and in the community in which we live, work, play, and support. If time permits, please engage in this event. It is our responsibility to show up for our youth in the field of play as well as in school, home, and while they navigate life. December 15th, 2018, the City and County of Denver, the State of Colorado, and the Mayor’s Office officially proclaimed Pirates Day in recognition of the Park Hill Pirates’ decades of impact, leadership, and community strength. But instead of using the day to celebrate ourselves, we turned it into something bigger. Pirates Giving Day, which has become our day to serve and give back to the same community that has always given to us.

This year, our weekend of service is deeper and more meaningful than ever as we honor one of our own, Davarie Armstrong.

Davarie Armstrong wasn’t just a participant; he was a true Pirate. A lifetime athlete. A standout student. A 4.0 GPA scholar. A young man with discipline, joy, and promise.

His life was tragically taken at just 17 years old in July 2020, a loss that shook our program, our kids, and our entire community. In response to that unimaginable pain, his mother, Angel Shabazz, turned her grief into purpose and founded the The DJ Armstrong Foundation, a beacon for families navigating the same violence and trauma.

Partnering with this foundation isn’t symbolic; it’s personal and necessary, and we need your assistance to make this day of service one to remember.

Join Us: Saturday, December 13th, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM - Girls Inc. of Metro Denver 1499 Julian St. Denver 80204 Toy & Coat Drive with the DJ Armstrong Foundation. Together, we’ll distribute toys, coats, and hygiene packs at an event built on love, remembrance, and service.

Then you can join us on:
Sunday, December 14th, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Skyland Park - Skyland Park 3380 Holly St. Denver, 80207
Park Hill Neighborhood Clean-Up
We close the weekend by taking care of home, honoring the neighborhood that shaped us. We will clean up Skyland Park, and the Holly Square area. Boyz and Girls Club, Center for African American Health, Hope Center.

THANKFUL FOR OUR PIRATES COMMUNITY.

As many families spend today resting and getting time with loved ones, we want to say how thankful we are for this community. Your support — from families, donors, and a partner who covered team flights — has already helped us reach $9,685 toward our Nationals campaign.

Today’s focus is continuing to build momentum by reaching 10K.

Since it’s the 27th, we’re hoping for 27 people to give $20 to help us cross this milestone.

Every share, every dollar, and every show of support helps our boys continue their journey to the National Championships and represent Park Hill, Denver, and Colorado on the national stage.

HISTORY IN THE MAKING

Every challenge we have launched has been blown out of the water, thanks to the incredible support from our families, friends, and community partners.

Because of this momentum, we are rolling out our $10K by the end of Turkey Day challenge early.

We have raised $9,260 and are almost halfway to our $20K goal.

Your support helps cover:
• transportation
• equipment
• lodging
• meals for our athletes

Our athletes travel next week.

If you believe in giving kids opportunities to shine, we would love your support today.

PIRATES FOR LIFE!!!!

The Pirates Youth Football Organization PYFO) was established in 1968 by the late William (Bill) Roberts, a prominent businessman and politician in the great city of Denver. The Pirates have proudly influenced young people to become, lawyers, doctors, politicians, attorneys, professional athletes, community leaders and hard working citizens. Impacting thousands of young men and women across the city, some of our proud Pirates Alumn are Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, Colorado State Representative James Coleman, DU Basketball Head Coach Rodney Billups, NBA Superstar and Finals MVP Chauncey Billups, NFL Superstars Calais Campbell, Lendale White, and Daniel Graham (honorary), Dr. Ryan Ross, Herman White Sr., Herman White Jr., Mikoyan Watson, Allen Webb, Roman Hollowell, Thal Woods, and so many more. Many Pirates players have gone to college on academic and athletic scholarships, graduated and are now reaching back in their communities to lend a helping hand. Our Alumni's willingness to support, mentor, and partner with us over the years has helped create a level of tradition within our organization and instilled a great sense of pride in our young men and the Park Hill Community.

The PYFO is an extraordinary program that has made a tremendous impact within the city of Denver, the state of Colorado and the Park Hill community. With the neighborhood of Park Hill having had it's many challenges with gangs and gun violence, the PYFO has taken the necessary steps to consistently challenge our youth. We take pride in being CHANGE AGENTS so we continue to create other opportunities that will divert their attention toward more constructive activities. We have introduced Engineering Camps, tutoring and mentoring camps, Afterschool Enrichment Programs, Mentoring and much more. It is our mission as an organization to ensure our players are prepared for the next level in life, in the classroom and on the field.

As we continue our journey of developing young great minds, the PYFO is always in search of the best community and corporate partners who share our passion for changing the lives of our youth and we look forward to building more great individuals in our community.
