I had the pleasure of joining Isabel Melgarejo on A Time to Care: The Caregivers Podcast. 🎙️

Isabel works with many aspects of caregiving... the pressures, the hidden expectations, and the need for honest conversations about topics we too often avoid: death, mental health, and long-term care.

Most of us are never taught how to navigate the challenges of caregiving, like how to set healthy boundaries, communicate clearly, and create plans that allow us to thrive as both the ones giving and receiving care. This is where Isabel shines, guiding people through this process with wisdom and compassion.

Her work connects beautifully to what I do through ALIGN Rx, helping retirees step into retirement in a meaningful way through Project-Based Transformation and The Legacy Project.

Because retirement isn’t just about stepping away from work... it’s about stepping intentionally into the next chapter. That means thinking ahead:

✨ Getting clear about - and communicating - your desires and needs
✨ Exploring options for location, downsizing, and future care
✨ Making the most of your time right now

When we avoid these conversations, they tend to find us later, often at the hardest possible moments. But when we face them with clarity and care, retirement becomes not just an ending — but an opportunity to create a life and legacy that feel truly aligned.

Grateful to Isabel for hosting me… and for the amazing work she’s doing to support caregivers and shift the way society sees this role. 💜

In this inspiring episode of A Time to Care: The Caregivers Podcast, we sit down with Alara Rosenberg, a retirement coach who helps individuals navigate the emotional and practical transition into post-career life. Alara shares that one of the most essential steps in this phase is taking the time to reflect on key questions: Who are you now? What do you want to do? Who do you want to become?

She emphasizes the importance of social connection, encouraging retirees to build meaningful relationships and embrace the freedom to explore new interests. Retirement, she reminds us, is not a fixed destination—it’s a journey of self-discovery where everyone’s path is different.

Alara invites retiree listeners to experiment with new hobbies, seek out fresh friendships, and pursue long-forgotten passions. This stage of life is a unique opportunity to realign with your values and find joy in new experiences.
She leaves us with three powerful pieces of advice:

1. Take intentional time to plan your retirement journey.
2. Identify your new values, goals, and priorities.
3. Take care of your brain and body to maintain vitality and good health.

Tune in to be inspired and to rethink retirement not as an end, but as a new beginning filled with possibility. ✨

I used to think something was wrong with me because I couldn’t stay “positive” - and I could never maintain that elusive idea of “happiness.”

Being “positive” and “happy” all the time just felt... fake. And inauthentic.

But then I learned about positive psychology.

It isn’t about pretending everything is amazing all the time... it’s about building the tools to cope - and thrive - even through the challenges

It’s about:
✨ Training your mind to notice what *is* working
✨ Creating habits that support the person you’re becoming
✨ Learning how to feel more, not less. (Yes, let’s actually FEEL those feelings.)
✨ Shifting the story you tell yourself about who you are

This is one of the foundations in my coaching programs. Because it honestly changed how I view the world - and thus, changed my life.

“As long as we’re caught up in always looking for certainty and happiness, rather than honoring the taste and smell and quality of exactly what is happening, as long as we’re always running from discomfort, we’re going to be caught in a cycle of unhappiness and discomfort, and we will feel weaker and weaker. This way of seeing helps us develop inner strength. And what’s especially encouraging is the view that inner strength is available to us at just the moment when we think that we’ve hit the bottom, when things are at their worst.” - Pema Chodron

You can’t change your outer world without transforming your inner world.

Your relationships.
Your work.
Your energy.
Your decisions.
Your health.
Your income.
Your performance.
Your patterns.

Everything that is showing up in your life is shaped by the patterns running quietly in the background of your mind.

In therapeutic yoga, we don’t just stretch.

We pay attention to everything - from the inside out.

We breathe.
We feel.
We listen.

Everything is connected.
The body mirrors the mind.
The mind reacts to the body.
And the spirit watches it all,
patiently waiting for you to return.

All dis-ease begins as an agitation of the mind.

And when we slow down, soften, and reconnect to our breath…
we begin to dissolve that agitation.
