20 year old Kayla would’ve IMMEDIATELY deleted this pic without giving it a second thought just because you can see some “imperfections” on my legs ... I never wanted to portray anything other than perfection. Which is a pretty exhausting thing to do as a VERY imperfect human 🙃 I wanted to look like I was eating the perfect meals all the time, working out every day, and I never wanted to show any of my insecurities.
But when did complete “perfection” ever inspire anyone??
We’re all human. We all have insecurities. Embrace them! It’s a heck of a lot easier than carrying the weight of perfection 🙏🏼

✨Focus on what you can control✨ This is my mantra for basically all of 2020🙏🏼

Has this week felt like 3 weeks jammed into one for anybody else??! I’m very thankful for today being Friday!🙏🏼 I wanted to share some random facts about me to see if we have anything in common!
🔹 I’m 27 - July baby!
🔹 I’ve visited lots of countries and lived in Belgium for a few years, but sadly it was when I was a toddler so I don’t remember a ton about it:/
🔹 Up until about 3 weeks ago I didn’t like cheese or beer... but something changed in me and now I like both! Cocktails are still my drink of choice (margs or old fashions) but I’m glad I can at least stomach a beer if needed haha
🔹 Graduated from Purdue with a degree in elementary education, but quickly changed my path to being a full time personal trainer - I love kids, but teaching was a whole new ball game. Extreme respect for any teachers out there!!
🔹 I’ve struggled with depression and binge eating throughout my life. Happy to say I am free of both of those now!
🔹 Guilty pleasure TV shows are Bachelor/Bachelorette, Big Brother, Love Island... 🙃 basically anything reality TV
🔹 Can quote any scene from The Office. My boyfriend and I quote the office at least 5 times a day
🔹 I am adventurous, but also a home body at the same time. I love off roading, camping, skiing, traveling, but when I’m not doing one of those I love having a movie night in, ordering food, and just relaxin!
Did we have anything in common? Lemme know something about you in the comments!👇🏼👇🏼

It’s a snowy Sunday here in Denver! ❄️❄️ Winter and snow have always been my LEAST favorite type of weather, but since moving to Denver, I will say it’s growing on me... I’m still definitely a Summer girl at heart but this snow isn’t so bad I guess... 😏
Do you like snowy weather or are you a summer person??
I recorded a leg workout that will be posted soon so keep your eyes out!💗

Don’t come up with excuses, come up with solutions ✅
Don’t have a gym membership (or don’t feel comfortable going to a public gym yet)?
- Go for a run, bike ride, walk, or do body weight exercises at home! There are plenty of super challenging exercises that only require your body weight.
Don’t have tons of extra money to buy healthier food?
- Re-evaluate how much you’re spending on: Starbucks, fast food, food delivery fees, unnecessary drinks out. reallocate some of that money towards healthy foods to create healthy habits!
Don’t know what to do at the gym, or not sure if you have proper form?
- It might be time to invest in a personal trainer to stop you from spinning your wheels and start getting results. If you’re locate to Denver, click the link in my bio to apply for training with me!

Anybody else at this point in their life where they just DON’T care about how they look as much as they used to?? 🙋🏽♀️🥳 I was taking a stroll through memory lane looking at allll of the old pictures on my phone (highly recommend if you haven’t done that in a while, but make sure to set aside like 3+ hours lol) I scrolled by some progress pictures I took in 2015/2016 and could literally FEEL the pain of how much negative self talk I did to myself at that time. I vividly remember thinking “ok once I lose 10 more pounds I’ll finally be happy with my body and how I look”. I was 125 pounds in the pictures... at 5’6”. I did NOT need to lose 10 more pounds. But I was just so unhappy with how I looked (definitely had body dysmorphia) and was HYPER FOCUSED on how I looked. **disclaimer - not saying that if you’re 115 at 5’6” that that’s bad at all. The point of giving those stats was to say I was not over weight or needed to lose ten more pounds to be healthy**
I feel like I wasted sooo much of my life caring too much about what my body looked like.
I’m SO stinkin proud of how far I’ve come because I genuinely love my body and don’t put my worth in what my body looks like anymore. I care more about how I FEEL in my body.
If you’re not at that point in your life, remember that your worth is not measured by the number on the scale. Period.
Be healthy because you CARE about your body, not because you hate it.
You can still want to change your body and reach the goals you have, but try to be patient and loving with yourself along the way. It’s much more enjoyable that way❤️

Work for the body AND lifestyle you want ⚡️⚡️ Want to be somewhat fit, but also enjoy food and drinks? Cool! Do that! Want to have six pack abs and live with a more strict diet? Cool! Do that!
There is no “right” and “wrong” when it comes to our bodies.
Choose what YOU want, not what other people think you should look like.
I no longer desire to be completely shredded, because that was wayyy too much restriction in my life. I also no longer desire to fall back into my binge eating ways because that was very unhealthy for my mind and body.
I want to be fit and feel fit, but not at the expense of my enjoyment of life🙌🏼 I like the balance I have found because I feel good physically and I get to enjoy food and drink without stressing about it. Find what works for YOU and go with it!

"Workout because you LOVE your body, not because you hate it"
-
This has been one of my favorite fitness quotes since I started lifting. I hear people all the time complaining about how they have to go workout because they feel fat or because they ate a cookie and have to go burn it off out of guilt. ⬅️ This type of negative mindset around fitness and nutrition isn't healthy or sustainable. Treating your body with care is about more than just trying to change the way it looks-that comes with time. Treating your body right should happen out of love because the human body is amazing and capable of so much❤️

Motivation Monday!!🎉 🎉 SWIPE ➡️ to see a few of my clients’ INCREDIBLE transformations!! I am so proud of the hard work they have put in to make these changes. What’s even more impressive to me than their physical transformations, is the mental changes they’ve made. It’s {relatively} easy to lose weight, it’s much much harder to keep it off. Making lifestyle changes is harddd work, but SO worth it!
YOU can be one of these success stories too! Having the accountability and expertise of a trainer helps so much with adherence to a program, so that you can actually see lasting results.

Do you listen to music when you workout? I usually listen to pump up music or a good podcast🎙 I have to listen to music if I’m lifting, but I can do podcasts if I’m doing cardio (because I need something to keep my mind off of the dread of cardio lol) It helps clear my mind of everything else going on in my life and lets me learn something new!🤓
My current fave podcasts are:
🔘The School of Greatness
🔘The Brendon Show
🔘 GaryVee
My current fave artists to workout to:
🔵 NEFFEX
🔵 NF
🔵 Lecrae

Have you heard (or maybe said) any of the following...
“If you eat after 7 PM it will all store as fat”
“Don’t eat carbs - they make you fat!”
“Eat these 10 fat burning foods to lose weight!”
“In order to get toned, you should always do low weight and high reps”
“Lifting weights makes women bulky”
I hear these thoughts at least once a week from people.
If you’ve ever wondered about any of the phrases above then stay tuned! I recorded videos explaining the TRUTH behind all of these points.
The media and magazines have fooled us for way too long so I want to get facts out there⚡️ Make sure you are following me and turn on my post notifications so you don’t miss any of these truth bombs 💣

SWIPE for some truth⚡️If I only ever worked out or ate healthy when I was motivated and excited...I would NEVER get to my goals. Period. We have to develop healthy habits through discipline in order to make it a lifestyle. If you aren’t motivated today - do it anyway. Nobody else will do it for you so you have to be your own biggest cheerleader 📣
