Compassion is something we offer freely to so many others but rarely give ourselves.

When you make a mistake, or you perhaps when you look in the mirror do you say to yourself, "You have been through a lot. You have been doing so well, take a deep breath, we are going to get through this."

OR, when you make a mistake or in the simple act of looking in the mirror do you say, "Wow, you have really messed up this time. Even when you try really hard it seems like things just don't work out for you. Why can't you get your crap together and stop making these mistakes? Why can't you take care of yourself better?"

Which one do you think expresses self-compassion?
Which one do you think is the proven way to move forward and make positive changes after a setback or mistake?

So many of us beat ourselves up about what we don't do, haven't done, or what we wish we could do better.

As you approach your health and fitness goals this year, start with compassion. Treating your body like a dear friend is one of the best ways to get stronger!

Here's an excellent resource list to improve your self-compassion.
Be kind to yourself.
You are truly a miracle.
There's no one who can claim your beauty.

Exercises Exercise 1: How would you treat a friend? How do you think things might change if you responded to yourself in the same way you typically respond to a close friend when he or she is suffering? This exercise walks you through it.

Stop and think about this. Women don't often ask "what's good for me?" because we are so busy asking ourselves with is best for everyone else.

It's loving and kind to want to give everyone around us all that we are, but what is left of you when you live this way?

Loving others can indeed bring joy and fulfilment.

But what happens when we get lost in the current of caring for our kids or caring for our parents, or we're so spent that we have lost our zest for our own passions or sense of self-care?

Look in the mirror.

What's good for you?

Topping lists are typically working out, eating better, sleeping more, spending more time with friends.

But keep the list going and then really ask- what is *most* good for you what you need right now.

Be honest and sincere about listening with an open mind. You are worthy of so much.

Now that it is post-Halloween no-one is missing any extra candy, but this could easily be true at our house any other month, LOL, especially if it is dark chocolate!!!!

Anyone else ever steal their kids' candy/treats and pretend it was sadly lost??!!

When you have been working your craft for nearly 25 years, it still never gets old when a client sends you a message like this:

"I wanted you to know too that I had another BIA (body composition) measurement done. I’ve gained 4 lbs of muscle and lost more than 6 lbs of fat mainly, I think, because of the work I’ve been doing with you…all very encouraging for a 61YO post-menopausal female!"

EEKK!! Strength training and movement work. It is such a gift to ourselves to take care of our bodies by kindly and courageously giving them strength and stamina (and feeding them nourishing food!).

Whatever you do, please don't give up on your body...it isn't giving up on you.

P.S. This is me cheering for you and the client who sent me this note:)

Interesting. Pain stinks, and often people
Are left with only drugs or steroid injections to lessen their misery. Sadly, those steroid shots may be causing more harm than good.

I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face, but movement is the best medicine!
