Starting off the year with a new venture called Gravel Adventure Field Guide. It grew out of the success of the Trinidad-Las Animas County guidebook and sees us dropping three new destinations in 2022. Patagonia, AZ, Bend, OR, and Pueblo, CO are next. Plus we're running an awesome Explore Trinidad Gravel travel contest which awards one winner a $1500 travel reward to come ride in southeast Colorado.
We've got some good momentum and look forward to building this business out...

It’s super cool to share that Mountain Town Magazinezine published our Zeal Opticstics blog contribution around passenger rail service in southeastern Colorado. Reminder, Trinidad has daily Amtrakrak service between Chicago and Los Angeles on the Southwest Chief.
“We center the magazine with thoughts on how we travel in and around our mountain town communities. Climate Change is more apparent than ever; fires, mudslides, and the thick haze of smoke everywhere all summer long got us thinking about our fuel consumption and how we can assist our air quality. Train travel is a part of life along the East Coast and abroad. We bring a story from Trinidad by Juan Alberto DelaRoca, who believes trains offer economic spending with a low carbon, low impact footprint. We absolutely agree. In addition, the rise of electric vehicle use is really happening. We give an intro to these cars, and if you own one, locations to find charging stations for a stress-free, smogless road trip.”
A Fisher Peak State Park master trail plan and City of Trinidad Transportation study were recently presented, and integrating train travel into the connectivity mix is still not part of the conversation. The hope with this piece is that it will encourage more dialogue on how the rail lines to and from Trinidad-Raton, an existing infrastructure asset, can be a solution to enhancing and preserving the outdoor recreation and tourism experience as the region’s popularity increases in the years ahead. There are reasons to believe there is strong support for more passenger rail experiences and services.
Story can be found on pages 32-33. Thank you Holly Resignolo
