Thanks Gregg and Sharon Ann Hoffman just did the most badass thing ever. Had to be strong in the whole body and mind to do it! Bucket list jumps at ages 66 and 62. Thanks to hystrength fittest in group of twelve on this excursion.
Thanks Gregg for the education and hard work. Just had my first bone density scan at 65 and my results show in hip and spine( most important for function) that my density is only 2% less than that of a 30 year old woman. Fit after fifty? How bout STRONG after sixty? Or in my case sixty four. Just finished a two week fishing/ backpacking vacay with LESLIE Foster hu***ng forty pound packs. Felt great. Thanks Gregg for the strength base. And we did not start a program til our fifties. Might add we just did our third gym workout since the trip and are close to where we left off. Routine included a push-up hip flexion with resistance, reverse wood chops, hip flexion plank, low abs AND supine airplane! Whaaat?!?! We feel awesome.

More Than Just A Torn QL - Urban Pump Personal Training Studio Denver

In my post I tore my Quadratus Lumborum, https://urbanpump.com/i-tore-my-quadratus-lumborum-ql/

I wrote about how I really jacked up my back from working on my motorcycle and doing a hard workout on the same day. I clearly overdid it because my lower back was very stiff and in a lot of pain for a long time. It felt like I tore my Quadratus Lumborum, and I still believe I did. Even though I did a lot of re-hab work on my lower back, it still was stiff and painful. I was never able to get over a certain point of healing. No problem, I figured. I will just keep re-habbing it and dealing with it as best as I can. I was not going to stop exercising, that was for sure!

It turns out that a torn Quadratus Lumborum was not all I had. About four months later I started to notice a bulge around my groin. I did not pay it much attention at first, but then it started to get bigger. Additionally, I noticed a bulge on the other side of my groin. I realized that I had better figure out what is going on and fast, so I did what we all do: I googled my symptoms. As near as I could tell I was developing an inguinal hernia that extended to both sides. I knew it would be better to get it taken care of sooner rather than later, but still there was a bit of procrastination on my part. I still did my workouts, but it was getting more painful to keep training hard. I also had constant pain whenever I had to stand for any length of time, mostly in my lower back.

Trigger Point Therapy Is A Must In Your Re-Hab Protocol - Urban Pump Personal Training Studio Denver

💥 I am now offering trigger point work as a service along with personal training. 💥

I am not the only one I know who needs more focus on trigger point work. I have a client I have been working with for years, which is very tight around his hamstrings, glutes, iliotibial band, and calf muscles. At first, we tried guided stretching protocols, which brought temporary relief but never lasted. So I suggested he try massage therapy. He worked with three different massage therapists, and none of them seemed to be able to do a good enough job. Frustrated, he asked me to try something…anything to relieve him. I figured since I had good success on myself with trigger point therapy, why not try it on him.

I worked with him for over a month, and his flexibility improved so much that his chiropractor remarked on the difference he noticed. Moreover, my client is moving up in weight like we have not seen in a while, and what is most remarkable to me is that he can finally sleep through the night without pain. He used to take melatonin to get a good night’s sleep, but he stopped taking it once the pain was gone, and he has a much more restful night’s sleep now. Wow.

That is excellent news!

I am now offering trigger point work as a service along with personal training. If you feel tightness and pain in your muscles and tendons and want relief, look me up. I believe I can help.

In any event, I highly suggest some form of trigger point work via a bio-foam roller, body back buddy, a tennis ball, or a helping hand like a massage therapist to hit the hard-to-reach spots.

As an 'older' person, I had my doubts
that much could be done to help me.

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 ❤️
I am a recovering diet and exercise -aholic.
I am also a recovering Californian so, of course, have spent most of my life trying out one new eating and exercise plan after another. I've crammed cabbage, slurped soup, cleansed masterfully, and zoned out.

High carb, low carb, all-protein, no protein... ran 6 miles a day, Jazzercise, power pump, yoga, personal trainer name it, I have experimented with it.

I've had varying degrees of success - if success is measured in terms of weight loss and increased energy - but was never really able to stick to anything for the long term....until now.....

I have been working out with Sharon for about 8 months and I have seen more results than from absolutely anything else that I have ever tried.

I've gone down 2 dress sizes and feel stronger, and have so much more energy. The works outs are hard. I'm not going to lie, but even I can endure anything for 30 minutes, and it's so rewarding.

Sharon and Greg are also helping me tweak my diet and just be more mindful of what I am I'm eating. I'm also keeping an online food diary, and that is a major eye-opener. I always thought I ate so healthy, and I do, but I was just eating too much.
I feel better than ever and am losing weight, and inches consistently and permanently.
