I'd like to take a second and acknowledge this young man. I have never met this young man, shook his hand, or been introduced to him. Yet, his character and actions caught my attention.

When his team was up, he kept them in the game—not letting them get comfortable, reminding them that as long as there was time left on the clock, the other team still had time to score.

Weleetka scored on a long run. His immediate reaction wasn’t to get mad, gripe, or blame his teammates. Instead, he turned to his team and said, “Don’t let one bad play ruin the rest of the game.”

It was a sight to see a player so young lead in every sense of the word.

He could have gotten angry. He could have run his teammate down for the mistake. Instead, he chose to speak life into them, lifted them back up, and brought his team back together.

That’s leadership. Not just when things are going your way, but especially when they aren’t.

Edited to say Depew VS Weleetka JH game.
