Did you know there is another local race with prize money next weekend, Sunday September 13th? The local running club Capital Striders has been hosting this event for 44 years and is bring directed by Blazing 5k director Tyson Wieland.

Just like last year, there will be a $1300 prize purse with the men and women's champion taking home $300.

There are comped entries for men under 56 minutes and women under 61 minutes for the 10 mile. Equivalent times within the last 15 months will be accepted for free entry. Please reach out to [email protected]!

6 years ago we set out to break the current model of races and give people the opportunity to chase fast times on an accurate course. We have been the home of 100s of PRs, and dozens of of the fasest times in Iowa history over the years. In our 7th year, we are still hungry to see people show themselves what is possible with a shared mindset of finding our personal best.

Blazing 5k 2026

Things are heating up with just over a month to go before The Blazing 5k!🔥 It was announced earlier in the year, but we wanted to remind everyone that there is $1000 up for grabs by teams in 2026. $500 to the M/F champions in a winner takes all style competition.

With unlimited roster sizes, and 4 runners scoring per gender, we are sure to see some fireworks out there on October 4th! Don't have a scoring squad yet? Make sure to convince your friends to join and fight for the title!

Cash prizes are for the elite races. The open race has a similar competition that scores 2 M/2 F and has some sweet swag as a prize!

You are able to reach out to add a team if you missed that step during registration. Please do so as soon as possible!
