Yesterday we held a Students in Technology event sponsored by Microsoft!!! This event was to showcase the many different fields students can engage in for careers and how it relates to technology as technology will be our future 🥳. These students not only got to listen to some amazing speakers, but they also got the chance to participate in a hands on activity where they got to work with Cat 5 wiring! More to come as our Husky Hack Squad club will be starting in October!

JumpStart 2021 session 2 is in the books 🙌🤩This was such a fun program for our incoming 9th grade students to receive some math enrichment✅, get familiar with the school and some teachers/support staff✅. During the two weeks, these students got the opportunity to earn Silver Cord hours by cleaning up one of our gardens, went to Monroe Elementary school for a field day with the younger students, AND challenged themselves at Stowe Ropes by facing their fears!

HAPPY MONDAY! Today, Vision To Learn stopped by Hoover to provide FREE screenings and exams to 35+ students 🤓. After exams, 11 students were able to receive new glasses 👓 at no cost at all. This was such an amazing experience and we at Hoover are super grateful of the opportunity to provide to our students 🤗

Come one come all students of Hoover. Monday July 19th you are welcomed to come to get a free eye screening, eye exam, and glasses (if needed). Please come to the main entrance and staff will be there to direct you to the right place.

And just like that… The first session of JumpStart is in the books ✅✅ 15 students were able to receive math enrichment and participate in daily team building activities over the past two weeks. The last day was definitely bittersweet for the students as well as for the staff 🥲. Super excited for the second session in July!!

These incoming 9th graders had a blast this past week at our all new Jump Start program! Hi lights of the week includes field day at Monroe Elementary School, Tie Dying shirts, scavenger hunt at Hoover High School, and of course, meeting with support staff, admin, and some teachers. One more week to go 😊😊

Come check out all of the young talented black artists and performers as well as enjoy some of the best local food trucks in Des Moines 😊 Friday June 25th 1pm-9pm at the Ampitheater!!

And just like that... Spirit Crew is underway at Hoover High School. Members received their welcome bags last week and today was their first meeting to prepare for the year ahead and the big ORIENTATION DAY! More to come 💚💛

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to have 4 DMACC representatives come into Hoover High School. They assisted students with filling out their college applications, scheduling their summer orientation, assisted with filling out their FAFSA, and to answer ANY and ALL questions about college and what to expect. Thank you so much DMACC for your help with this!

This past Saturday was Hoover’s annual Golf Outing Fundraiser 😃. The weather was beautiful and it made for a fun day of golfing 🏌️‍♀️ THANK YOU to all donors and sponsors of this event 😊
