Construction projects are underway all over Des Moines, many of which have impacts on our trail system. Our team has created an online map with information on anticipated closures, associated detours, and designated points of contact for each project. We will provide updates as situations change, but suggest checking this page often.

Some info on why this trail is closed... south of the dog park and east of 63rd..

IDOT is working with the County and their project manager is Kyle Riley, Assistant Engineer, Polk County, They hope to be done sooner, but contract allows for project to go to end of October without penalty.

The bike trail repair has started. Please keep watch for updates. This section of the trail will be impassable.

We hear the water is down and the mud is clear under the railroad bridge. Trail is open.

FYI Walnut Creek is rising fast! Have not seen it this high since the last time it flooded.

Up down turn around open gates can now be found. They started putting up the new fence so I bet they shut the gates again while they work on it.

Well the gates are open underneath Grand Ave bridge. However, no fence. Watch your speed Casey Jones, watch your speed!

I'm still closed underneath the Grand Ave bridge. To facilitate cleaning the flood debris they removed my fencing. I feel so naked because of it and if you sneak in you may fall off my curves and land in the creek. They have not told when I am to reopen.
