Dam to Dam

Tim Lane, long-time friend of Iowa runners and bikers passed away earlier this month. Tim joined the Dam to Dam Race Commitee as our Community Enhancement Chair.

He brought to the Committee a project that he was passionate about -- Tim dreamed about creating a lasting memorial to the 1985 Iowa State Women’s Cross Country plan crash tragedy.

He succeeded in a big way and the Memorial will forever be a reminder of the tragic event and Tim’s persistence in getting it done. It is an achievement that the Dam to Dam Race Committee is extremely proud of!!!

Thank you Tim for your passion and leadership – it was a great ride.

We wanted to share with the running community that long time runner John Beamer finished the race on November 19, 2023.

John, 84 was a good friend of Dam to Dam and finished all 39 of the old Dam to Dam’s. He competed his first race in 1980 with his son David, finishing together in 1:59 and he was hooked!

Thanks for the memories John! You were the perfect example of the spirit and camaraderie of what was Dam to Dam.
