Building longevity in health through strength training and mobility.

11/21/2025

One of the biggest changes in fitness journey is working on behaving injuries, trying regain full mobility in my body, and with that I’ve never felt healthier or stronger. The one that shocks most people is they say this is the biggest they’ve seen me, best shape I’ve ever been in, and I’m 30 lbs lighter than I used to be. Significantly less muscle, not as strong as I used to be, but overall my body is significantly healthier.

You should be striving to get to a point where you feel like your body is the healthiest it’s ever been. That’s done through massage/soft tissue work, foam rolling, stretching, and strength training.

If you have sore/stiff joints or muscles or had some at some point, I promise you the issue didn’t resolve itself, your body just numbed the pain so you can live comfortably.

More studies are showing the importance of positive self talk. Boosts confidence, self worth, increase motivation, and much more.

Talk to yourself with the same love, patience, understanding, and encouragement you’d show a loved one. There’s plenty of negativity out in the world, remove it with your own narrative.

Chirp Wheel: 2 of them, one that vibrates/massages. Helps stretch and align the back working out any stiffness.

Foam Rollers: Working out muscle knots. Harder, more rigid foam roller for deep muscle knots. Soft form roller for more of a light, massage.

Resistance Bands: Mobility and flexibility work with some added resistance. Doing some light band work on the joints makes a world of difference with mobility.

Massage Gun: Use this thing religiously. One of the most important aspects of keeping the muscles healthy is getting to do some soft tissue work. Must have for anybody in a gym, working out, running, training, anything. Get one!

Suspension Bands: Amazing for at home workouts using body weight. Option of doing just about any exercise you want on these bands.

The body adapts to the lifestyles we live. The longer we spend our lives sitting, being stagnant, the more our bodies start to lose functionality. Some work blue-collar jobs, putting stress and strain on the body and would benefit more from a stretching/mobility routine. Others work office jobs where strength training and cardio would be the optimal plan.

Maximize your efforts in the gym to minimize the hassles in your day-to-day. Find a workout routine that fits into your lifestyle and will only help you perform better daily.

For some, this might be corrective exercises, mobility, and stretching work, trying to minimize pain and tightness. For others, it could be more strength training and/or cardio. However, everyone at any point in time needs to always keep mobility and flexibility at the forefront.

The more aligned your body is, the healthier your muscles, the more optimal you perform. It’s imperative to create a well-balanced program to work weaknesses and loosen tightness, ultimately working towards increased strength, mobility, and overall improving quality of life.

Over the last few years of trying to correct my scoliosis, I’ve tried dozens if not hundreds of methods to help. Aside from stretching and mobility work, simply making one small tweak to the footwear has dramatically change everything.

My whole life, I’ve always been one to wear shoes and never really walk around barefoot. I constantly had issues with weak ankles, never realizing the majority of the issue was stemming from the feet. The tighter the muscles are on the feet, the more likely they are to develop imbalance and start to point at an angle. The more we sit in these shoes, the more our entire bodies start to tighten, starting at the feet.

Stop and think about ANY other body part being encased in some sort of additional support all day, every day. Back brace, knee brace, all help support the joint, however prolonged use depletes the joint’s strength completely bc it’s not using any of its own muscles for support.

Quicker you start to reverse this, the quicker your body is going to feel how it’s supposed to 🔥🔥

You can’t always capture the progress simply by a photo. One of the key aspects I think that gets overlooked is the mental/personal growth. Vast majority of the time, somebody getting in shape is triggered by finding themselves in a dark place mentally and/or physically.

Highly encourage people to not only take the progress photo, but journal what’s happening at the time. Capture struggles in and outside of the gym, emotions, stresses in life, etc. It’s easy to take a photo and start picking yourself apart and get discouraged. It’s a huge help when there’s emotions tied to the progress.

There will be spurts where you’re not quite seeing the progress you want or you don’t quite have the physique yet. However, it’s a hell of a lot easier to keep pushing through when you can reflect on personal growth as well. You’re not just building a new physique, you’re building a new you. Shedding old habits, making lifestyle changes, taking control of your life, those are always something to show pride in.
