Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good! This morning a lot of charter boats from the north end of the Detroit river struggled. Luckily I made a long run early and landed on a great pod of fish. By 8:15 we had a livewell full of good eatters and we shallow for big fish and we found quite a few. That gave me a good starting point for the afternoon and we caught a bunch of really nice fish. One more trip and we are done for the season.

If you think your too shallow, go shallower! Mid day smack down on a nice grade of fish in 5-9 fow.

Tough day to run a trolling motor out there today but John Pasanen did it like an old pro. He has come a long way in a short time.

What a great day on the water!! With the help of Fish'n Fools Charters, LLC, Alan Hogan and. Emmett Moody we took our 20+ veterans for fishing and food. After each trip we went to sinbads for their cook your catch. The morning crews lunches were covered by walleye wrecker charters and Fish’n fools charters. The afternoon crews meal was covered by VETS WITH NETS. The morning was on fire and we caught big bags of big fish. The afternoon was slower but we still found our fish just not as big as the morning ones. This is our 6th year doing the cook your catch veterans event and we look forward to it every year.

Couple shorter trips today, they were calling for 40+ wind gusts and rain this morning so we held off till 10 to head out fished until 1 or so then the evening we fished from 5-8. Morning was slower but we still hit double digits and a coho. The evening we caught some really good fish with our smallest fish being around 19 inches and most of the rest of them being around 25 inches. Not the most productive day but we caught so good fish had a great lunch at sinbads and had a lot of fun.
