Answer honestly: Would you want yourself as your teammate?
If you were the coach would you pick yourself to be on your team?
Would you choose yourself to be a leader?
If you have any doubt about answering ‘yes’ to any of these questions then you need to get back to the big three above.
You can’t control much in sport, but you can control your attitude, work ethic, and preparation every single day. Focus on these three every practice, game, and workout and it would be hard not to make tremendous improvement!
How will you show up to the next practice?

Giving 100% might actually be working against you.
How to Properly Use the 85% Rule Why Giving 100% Actually Works Against You
I shared this yesterday on my story but I still cannot help but be impressed by this consistency.
Don’t leave your performance to chance by just blindly warming up. Be intentional and create a controllable routine. Use physical stretches, breathing exercises, and self talk.
Most of all be consistent!
A routine isn’t a magic pill for success, but it is a tool that can get you in the right mindset to feel prepared and confident for the upcoming performance.

Check out this piece I published today. What do you think, do sports build character?
Do Sports Build Character? The answer may not be so obvious.

Controllability is key part of sport performance. Many athletes are unable to reach their peak performance because they wast their limited time, effort, and attention on factors outside of their control.
This looks like athletes
❌ complaining to the refs
❌ blaming their teammates
❌ worrying about the weather
❌ focusing on the opponents trash talk
As an athlete you can’t control the refs, your teammates, the weather, or the other team.
✅Your effort is better used on what you can control. Do what you can, right here and right now.

You have to work with what you have right here, right now.
There are times where you think, “I’ll have time in the future” or “I’ll do it tomorrow.” We wait for the perfect opportunity. We hold off for all the cards to fall into place.
But when you do this you miss out on opportunity and progress towards your goals. Don’t want work with what you have right now.
