Detroit: Best Of The Best Basketball Tournament

The Best Of The Best Basketball Tournament is a boys and girls youth basketball tournament in Detroit

Deandra Moss founded the Best Of The Best Basketball Tournament to encourage and inspire our inner city youth and push them towards the greatness that is within them. He also wanted to highlight the gifted coaches who devote themselves to nurturing the gifts, talents and minds of these same youths.

Built from grit. Rising by design. Detroit is what a comeback looks like.

In 2013, Detroit became the largest U.S. city to file for bankruptcy. A year later, it had a plan and a pulse.

What followed was more than a recovery. It was a reinvention.

Factories once frozen in time now run as startup labs, design studios, breweries, and event spaces. Michigan Central Station, once left to crumble, has been reborn as Ford’s global mobility hub. Corktown, Brush Park, and Midtown are booming again with new lofts, restaurants, and street-level energy.

Downtown, the skyline changed. The Hudson’s tower now rises 685 feet on the former Hudson’s department store site, redeveloped after years of dormancy. Book Tower is alive again with glass rotundas, rooftop views, and a whole new rhythm of events. The RenCen is already mid-transformation. And the Joe Louis Greenway is connecting neighborhoods that had been cut off for decades.

Campus Martius is ranked the best public square in the country. The DIA was named the nation’s top art museum. Eastern Market still draws thousands every weekend after more than 150 years.

Even the numbers are back. Eleven straight years of balanced budgets. A $60 million surplus in 2025 alone.

GM, Ford, and Stellantis are investing billions. COSM is bringing immersive dome entertainment downtown. New energy, new neighborhoods, new pride.

This isn’t the Motor City of memory. It’s a blueprint for the future.

Detroit was down. But never done.
