Many riders focus almost exclusively on cycling physical development in their training.
But race performance isn't always determined by who has the biggest and most powerful engine.
Often, it's determined by who understands how to use the track, position themselves effectively, and apply their racing strengths to match the right tactical strategy at the correct moment.
Following last year's Bromont Track Sprint Camp, one rider shared:
"I learned how to use the track to go faster without wasting energy. I also learned how to use my strengths to overtake stronger or faster cyclists - learned some strategies that I'll be able to apply in my next races."
This is exactly why we spend so much time discussing race scenarios, tactical strategies, track positioning, and race ex*****on throughout the camp.
The goal is to better understand how to race smarter and more effectively.

One of the most valuable learning tools available to track cyclists is video analysis.
In the moment, races happen fast. Decisions are made in seconds, positions change quickly, and opportunities can be won or lost before riders fully process what happened.
Video review allows riders to slow the race down, identify key moments, and better understand the decisions they made and identify other opportunities throughout the race.
Following last year’s Bromont Track Sprint Camp, one rider shared:
“Video review of match sprint was helpful. Overall great experience. Would recommend.”
Throughout the camp, we use race footage, coaching discussions, and tactical review sessions to help riders develop a deeper understanding of sprint racing and how to apply their strengths more effectively on race day.
The goal isn’t simply to ride faster. It’s to better understand how to execute when it matters most.

Athletes Xcel Track Sprint Training Camp - Bromont, QC
After the success of our previous camp, I am excited to confirm that we’ll be running the next 3-Day Track Sprint Training Camp at the Centre National de Cyclisme de Bromont (CNCB).
This is not just about riding fast, it’s about developing the skills, tactical understanding, and decision-making required to perform on race day.
🚴♂️ Why This Camp Matters
For many riders, performance isn’t limited by fitness, it’s limited by race understanding and ex*****on.
Common challenges include:
• Not racing to your strengths
• Struggling to read and respond in race situations
• Limited opportunity to practice tactical skills
• Very few chances to experiment in a structured environment
Over three days, we’ll address exactly that.
🗓️ Training Focus
Each day builds on the previous, so you don’t just learn skills, you learn how to apply them in racing.
Friday (Sept 4)
Flying efforts + partner skills (chasing, rushing, gap management)
Saturday (Sept 5)
AM: Gate starts
PM: Match sprint scenarios + race simulations
Sunday (Sept 6)
Keirin scenarios + race simulations + bonus bunch race
💬 What Riders Took Away
✔️ More confidence going into races
✔️ Clearer understanding of sprint tactics
✔️ Practical actions they could apply immediately
They stopped guessing and started understanding how to execute.

Continuing the athlete progress from the past few months - Performance is built in the details🚴♂️🔥
A big shoutout to Jasmin, who delivered a strong block of performances across both National and Provincial competitions this season.
🥉 3rd - Master Team Sprint, Canadian National Championships
🥉 3rd - Master Sprint Competition, Quebec Provincial Championships
💥 Flying 200m PB - 11.47s
🥈 2nd – Time Trial (Kilo), Quebec Provincial Championships
💥 Kilo PB - 1:09.565 (faster than Nationals - 1:10.091)
Jasmin comes from a background in road cycling, track cycling, and Olympic weightlifting. Bringing a strong foundation into sprint performance.
A key focus in his preparation was finding the right balance between gym work and on-track stimulus, ensuring we were applying enough load to drive adaptation, while managing fatigue to allow performance to come through.
We also placed a strong emphasis on event-specific preparation for the time trial, alongside executing a well-timed taper. An area that’s often overlooked but critical for delivering on race day.
And when it came to competition, Jasmin delivered.
🔥 This is what happens when the details are aligned.

Busy schedule. Limited track time. Still delivering.
Continuing the athlete progress from the past few months, this one is about returning to the sport and making it work.
A big shoutout to Fabien, who stepped back onto the track this season after a long break from racing.
🥈 2nd – Team Sprint, Canadian National Championships
💥 Fastest P1 (starter) time in the Masters field
What makes this performance stand out isn’t just the result, it’s the context.
Balancing work, family, and limited track access, Fabien had to approach training differently. Together, we focused on minimum effective dose, targeting key physiological adaptations for home based training, and aligning everything around a clear, manageable objective.
No noise. No unrealistic expectations. Just focused ex*****on.
And when it mattered, he delivered.
It’s been a real pleasure to be part of Fabien’s returning journey, especially having raced and trained together back in Toronto. Looking forward to building into the summer.
🔥 This is what smart, sustainable performance looks like.

Continuing the athlete progress path - this one is about showing up, even when it’s not easy. 🚴♀️
A big shoutout to Thalia, who has been building momentum in Elite Women’s Track Sprint Cycling.
🥈 2nd – Sprint Competition - Quebec Provincial Championships (March 2026)
💥 Flying 200m PB (−0.04s) – Canadian National Championships (January 2026)
💥 Time Trial PB – 1:12.9 – Canadian National Championships (January 2026)
What makes this progression stand out isn’t just the results, it’s what it took to get there.
Balancing full-time study, work, long days, and limited track access, Thalia had to navigate fatigue, scheduling, and the realities of high-performance sport.
Through a flexible training structure and consistent communication, we focused on maximizing the quality of each session.
And when it came to racing, she delivered with personal best levels.
Thalia is a natural racer, showing strong race craft, decision-making, and ex*****on under pressure.
There’s a lot more to come, and we are excited to continue building towards Thalia’s full potential.
🔥 This is what committed, adaptable performance looks like.

Continuing the momentum from the past few months… 🚴♂️
One of the standout athlete progressions from January to March has been coached rider Marc in Track Sprint Cycling.
🏆 1st – Sprint Competition, Quebec Provincial Championships (March 2026)
🥈 2nd – Sprint Competition, Canadian National Championships (January 2026)
💥 Flying 200m PB: 11.11s (−0.16s at Nationals)
Nationals marked a real breakthrough moment. Beyond the result, Marc elevated his racing by developing a clear sprint strategy, learning to race to his strengths, and executing with composure and control under pressure.
This is where performance is built, not just through physical gains, but through tactical awareness and race-day ex*****on.
That combination of speed and strategy is what’s driving Marc forward.
🔥 This is what focused sprint development looks like.

New Track Record Alert! 🚴♂️
On June 20th, track sprinter Tyler Davies broke the Burnaby Velodrome Club Flying 200m track record, stopping the clock at an incredible 10.42s!
This smashed the previous record of 10.57s, which had stood since December 2013. What is even more impressive, is that this performance was faster than any of Tyler’s times set on arguably faster tracks like the Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton, Ontario.
This performance is the result of 6 months of focused work and discipline in our online Track Sprint Program, where Tyler dedicated himself to increasing his speed, optimizing technical ex*****on and overall sprint performance. It’s proof that with the right training and intent, breakthrough results happen.
Congratulations Tyler, we are excited for the next stage on your track sprint journey!
