Today we had to change it up, today was our first solo son and mom comp to Detroit , Dad and little brother had to stay back at the hotel after little brother ended up not feeling well. We could have just went back home 3 1/2 hours but Giovanni was already in too deep. With lots of preparation put in and little bro having everything he needed we decided to go fight. Life will throw you curve balls but it’s how you deal with them that matters. Giovanni bracket was stacked with GREAT competition. It came down to him and this fierce competitor for both brackets. He fell short in no Gi we learned what to do and not to do and he subbed him in 30 seconds for his championship match for gold. Outstanding job, he represented himself, his brother , and his team Functions Of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu well today.
Giovanni was told how impressive his jiu-jitsu was today and we have Bays Chico to thank for getting Giovanni where he is today. We’re slowly improving day by day. This isn’t a race for us but a lifestyle. Congratulations Giovanni on your wins today, you fought great 💪🏼

We officially wrapped up their first wrestling season and celebrated at the banquet tonight.
As I have mentioned I am so proud of them fo rstepping into something new, meeting new people, learning new things, being in a new building that is not their OG Functions Of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and dedicating their time, literal blood , sweat and tears to tripple classes some nights of the week. They really pushed themselves.
Unfortunately Giovanni didn’t get to test his skills at the meets this year but his little brother Leonidas did and he did WELL. We were not expecting for him to go out and dominate but to learn and have fun. He did that and much more. Earning his very first 2 pins and a ton of knowledge to take back to the mats. We can’t wait to continue to add more wrestling to supplement their jiu-jitsu journey as they both really enjoyed this experience and all the new friends/team mates they made along the way!
Big thanks to their coaches from United Wrestling they really carried these kids the whole way, we will see you next year💪❤️

I am thrilled to see the boys achieve their 100 win plaque tonight for winning over 100 times in competition during their jiu-jitsu career thus far. What an impressive accomplishment for two young men! We are bringing in the new year with 105 wins for Leonidas and 103 wins for Giovanni. Giovanni is also ranked 47 GLOBALLY for best under 18 and Leonidas is ranked 88 in the world!
These boys have shown remarkable resilience, they show up even when they don’t want to. Their passion, persistence, dedication to this sport is truly inspiring and noticed by many.
Jiu-jitsu has been life changing for them and to see them be rewarded for all their hard work and effort is a very special parent moment. Keep going boys, never stop fighting, never stop believing in yourself. The world is yours. Congratulations and here’s to many more wins!

Little brother Leonidas fought hard today in Detroit Michigan alongside his older brother and fellow teammates! This is one of his well deserved wins finished with a guillotine! This girl was tough and didn’t go down easy! Leo had to fight for a spot on the podium today. He fell short with getting 4th in Gi but came back strong in no gi securing 3rd place ! You win & you LEARN. This kid is perfecting his craft while having fun on the mats. We know what to work on to be better next time. We are always proud for him just getting out there and doing his thing it’s not easy but nothing in life that’s worth it comes easy and we fight for what we love 💪
I love that Giovanni’s opponent keeps showing back up to redeem himself and does it with strength and great sportsmanship! Giovanni is happy that he secured double Gold in both Gi and no Gi & he looks forward to crossing paths with this competitor in the future!

We're thrilled to celebrate a major milestone - two grey belts in the house! After two years of dedication, 18 competitions, 72 wins, and a current global ranking of 137 and national ranking of 105 for 18 and under, we're confident that he'll break into the top 100 by year's end. Witnessing his growth and perseverance has been incredibly rewarding. Leonidas is now set to compete alongside his brother in his first-ever Super Fight later this month! We're grateful for our coach's tireless efforts in helping Leonidas achieve his goals and for the unwavering support of his teammates. Here’s to a new chapter !

Giovanni also competed in Detroit Michigan Grappling Industries this morning! He had a lot of great competition. 12 really tough matches that really challenged him. Which we love. He won some and he learned some.
We are prepared to take it back to the mats and work on his skills so he is better prepared and more confident for the next competition. It’s hard as a kid to not win them all, they have so much heart, he picked himself up and moved on to his next match and gave it his all.
Giovanni knows that in order to get better you have to push yourself, keep showing up & never give up. It’s not always going to be easy but it will be worth it.
With that said he secured 4th place in Gi and Bronze in no gi ! 🥉 we are so proud of him and will be cheering him on at his super fight at the end of the month ! 💪
