I’ve put off making this post for far too long, but I know I owe it to all of you, our loyal friends, family, followers, and customers.
It was almost 11 years ago to the day that I told Missy that her dream of bringing people together on the River was going to happen and since then she took our little business to places I would have never imagined.
When Missy passed, I decided I would keep Detroit Outpost open, partly out of habit with the other part being that I didn’t have the heart to close it down. After paddling for a couple summers, it was apparent very quickly that It was her passion and dedication that made the whole thing work and without Missy, there is no Detroit Outpost.
For these reasons, I have decided to close operations of Detroit Outpost and we will not be taking out paddlers in 2026. That doesn’t mean we won’t be out on the river and I will keep our [email protected] email open for anybody that wants to reach out.
I would like to share my immense gratitude to those who helped and supported the Outpost these last couple years while I was figuring things out. Liz, Beth, Robert, Ali, Joe, Nissa and Kevin. Without you there is no way we could have kept going. I’m looking forward to paddling with you this summer and with anyone else who wants to join.
See you on the river,
John
