Congratulations to Sr. Caleb Sherwood and Soph. Jonathan Garrison for being named finalists for Male Soccer Player of the Year at the annual CHAPY Awards by the Clinton Herald. Winners will be announced at the awards banquet on July 23.

Sabers travel to rival Maquoketa tonight in the 2nd round of IAHSAA playoffs. Let go boys!

Sabers make quick work of Wapello tonight, 11-0 in only 40 minutes of play. Jonathan Garrison started the scoring a mere 10 seconds into the game. Caleb Sherwood scored the first of his 4 goals just a minute later. Brody Grell found the back of the net twice, and the Sabers also got goals from Colton Penniston, Liam Kinrade, Dolan Theisen, and Keaton Hansen. Sabers travel to rival Maquoketa next Tuesday in the 2nd round.

Playoff soccer starts tonight as the Sabers host Wapello, 7:00 at home.

Sabers battled well against one of the top teams in 4A. In the end, Davenport North prevailed 3-1. Jonathan Garrison was able to drive through the middle of the Wildcat defense for the Saber goal in the 2nd half.

Last week the Sabers traveled to Bettendorf and took some lumps. However, the offense came to life at the end of the week against Bellevue. Jonathan Garrison found the back of thee net three times for a hat-trick. Caleb Sherwood got in the goal column twice, and Dolan Theisen and Liam Kinrade each added single goals. Assists on the night went to Colton Penniston, Keaton Hanson, Elias Kinrade, Jacob Van Der Merwe, Theisen, and Garrison.

Sabers grab the W. Caleb Sherwood started the scoring from the penalty spot following an Assumption handball in the box. Liam Kinrade made it 2-0 with a sweet header off a beautiful cross from Jonathan Garrison. Following a Knights goal, Caleb Sherwood again scored a penalty after a foul in the box for the final tally.

Sabers travel to Assumption tonight for a match against the Knights.
