Welcome to the home of Chesapeake DockDogs, the Maryland/Northern Virginia area club for dogs and their owners who love the jumping, flying, splashing and competing fun of dock jumping. Formed in January 2006, Chesapeake DockDogs is the Maryland/Northern Virginia area club of DockDogs® Worldwide, the largest presenter of dock diving dog performance sports in the world, with over 30 clubs all over the United States, Canada and Australia. Chesapeake DockDogs has members throughout Maryland, Virginia and in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware, and New Jersey. Chesapeake DockDogs holds events in warm-weather months, from spring into fall, whenever the weather is right for our dogs, and occasional indoor events when it’s cold. Our practices, demonstrations, competitions, and training sessions are a good way to meet our canine-loving members and learn tips and techniques. Whether your dog jumps two feet or sets a record, we’ll cheer you on! Our cookouts are family-friendly and a great place to swap dog stories. And our annual members-only Banquet is a blast and worth the price of membership alone! Featuring Griz from Team Excitement!

In 2019, Griz's handler, Bryan, was attending the World of Pets Expo as a spectator and was quickly captivated by our dock diving competition. Bryan's daughter saw his admiration and encouraged him to give it a try with his then Labrador. Tragically, Bryan's pup crossed the rainbow bridge in 2020 after an unfortunate battle with cancer. When Griz came into his life in July 2020, Bryan was determined to follow his dream and give dock diving a shot. He taught Griz how to swim, and immediately, they caught the dock diving bug!

Griz and his sister, Kimber, got their team name, Team Excitement, because of their enthusiasm and energy on and around the dock. If you've had the pleasure of watching them at an event, you know this team name is a perfect fit!

Griz had a really fun start to the 2026 season, placing in his division 7th at World of Pets Expo, 3rd at the Great American Outdoor Show, and 3rd at Hops on the Dock! This team has been a little quiet this summer, as Bryan is gearing up for double knee surgery. A little birdie told us Griz is going stir crazy missing dock diving! We wish Bryan a speedy recovery and can't wait to see Griz and Team Excitement back on the dock when they are healthy and ready to return doing what they love to do!

Featuring Craigslist Hydrogen-Bound Lacy Jay!

It's 2021...Handler decides she's ready for her first dog. Handler searches Craigslist and finds the cutest black Lab puppy. Puppy takes her first swim lesson at 4 months old. And the rest is history...

For two years in a row, Lacy has been ranked the #3 Worldwide Black Lab in Speed Retrieve. In addition, she's currently the #2 ranked Black Lab in Big Air and the #4 ranked in Iron Dog.

Lacy has been a multi-year DockDogs World Championship competitor as well as a Dueling Dogs World Championship competitor. At the 2025 World Championships, she was the 4th Place Finalist in Big Air Tier 3 and took home the infamous Triple Zero Club jacket! Lacy was also ranked in Chesapeake DockDogs' 2025 year-end rankings, including 2nd Big Air Elite, 2nd Extreme Vertical Cadet, and 1st Speed Retrieve Nitro.

2026 is proving to be Lacy's best season yet, having secured personal bests in Big Air (24'4"), Iron Dog (2992), and Dueling Dogs (5.4xx)!

While Lacy is currently bunkered down in the Midwest, we love cheering her on from afar and look forward to watching them continue to excel!

We may have set a few new club records at the Pier Pressure Battle of the Iron Dogs, but we're equally excited to see our members learning new skills so they can compete in ultimate triathlon of canine competition! 💫🥇🥈🥉

It’s ROLLOVER SEASON, Baby!

For those of you who are already planning to attend Worlds or are hoping for invites at one of the recent or upcoming Wild Card events, you'll find that our Worlds Team package is one of the great benefits of membership!

Worlds Team members receive a t-shirt, free kenneling with the club, Worlds Team dinner, and a special gift. 🩵🐶 🪣

We know that the Invite Fairy isn't done waiving her magic wand, but this week we'll start the process of collecting information on everyone who's received invites so far and those who are planning on making the trip to Madison for the purposes of planning and submitting our roster for the President's Cup, a friendly competition among all participating DockDogs clubs.

One of the Big Air jumps at Pier Pressure was 2 inches away from matching the Club PB and 3 inches away from beating it 👏🏼 We almost had 4 new Club Event records in a single event! The Pier brought the HEAT!

Featuring a guy who needs no introduction: Krazy Kane!

At around 6 months old, Kane was found wandering the streets of Texas. A plastic bag, the breeze, a human... You name it, he was terrified of it. He was fostered with the goal of getting him healthy enough for public adoption, but that quickly turned into a foster fail. His now owner says that was easily one of the best decisions she's ever made!

Kane was slow to warm up to water (because all things were scary), but his owner was patient and slowly eased him into it. And boy did that patience pay off!

In less than 4 years of dock diving, Kane has been a 3 time Reserve World Champion at the DockDogs World Championships in Speed Retrieve and Big Air. At last year's Dueling Dogs World Championships, he was a Class 2 Finalist, dueling a new PB of 6.516 sec! A dog who LOVES to duel, he also made club history (maybe Dueling Dogs history, we should fact check this!) last year by taking 1st place in Class 4, Class 3, and Class 2 Finals in one event with 3 different handlers!

Convinced he had Malinois in him because of his point ears and wild energy on the dock, his owner had an Embark test completed. The results: APBT, ACD, Chow Mix, and more (but 0 Maligator 🐊).

Catch Krazy Kane, aka Chesapeake DockDogs' multi-year Most Intense on the Dock Winner, when you can, as he is as wild child on the dock and a sweetheart on land.
