We ended the season with an amazing night of Parents vs Kids. And can we say it was one of the most memorable events we did as a team. It was entirely too much fun! Kids won 7-6

Hicktown Baseball 07/27/2023

We are excited to announce that our goal for the 2024 Hicktown LumberJacks Baseball travel season is to have 3 teams -- a 9U team ; 10U team ; and lastly a 12U team.

With that being said, for us to be successful in adding additional teams, we must plan and prepare in advance! Our goals for Hicktown will always remain the same - to provide a safe and healthy environment to learn character development and sportsmanship while providing high quality instruction, training, and game opportunities. We hope to provide a place that any baseball athlete that wants to continue to play and advance their love of the game of baseball be allowed to play.

Our goal to not charge players to play will also remain. With having additional teams / players, we will need to obtain additional sponsors to reach that goal successfully.

To help us prepare and know how much we will need to raise for this next season, we would love to hear from those that are interested in playing travel baseball for Hicktown Baseball in the 2024 season. The sooner, we know who is interested, will help us as we plan and prepare for this next season.

Below you can find the link to our website where you can sign up and let us know that you are interested. In the coming weeks and months, we will be in communication with those that sign up.

For those that are curious on what 9U ; 10U ; 12U means please see the following:

-9U team will consist of players that are Ages 7-8-9 on or before May 1, 2024
-10U team will consist of players that are Ages 8-9-10 on or before May 1, 2024.
-12U team will consist of players that are Ages 11-12 on or before May 1, 2024.

Please be sure to sign up in the appropriate age group and If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us directly by calling 406-925-2316.

PLEASE Share with anyone who might be interested in playing!

This is one of the important things we want our kids to take away from us, the lessons we teach and the behavior we strive to model for our athletes.

In a speech about leadership, Hall of Fame coach Jay Wright says, “We want our guys to understand that the greatest characteristic you can have is a great attitude. It’s a choice you have - every day - when you get up. There are things you can’t control. Some days, you are going to make your shots. Some days, the refs are going to make bad calls. What you can control is your attitude and how you approach what you are doing that day.”

Here is how they measure attitude: “Where is your mindset after something bad happens to you?”

They train their behavior by creating adverse situations in practice just to see people’s responses.

Having the right attitude can open doors that even talent might not be able to open, and can keep you in rooms when potential might not be enough.

This weekend we commenced our first season as Hicktown Baseball and boy were we able to accomplish that mission. One of our parents pointed out to us that we may not have won a game this year, but the other WINS have been immense and important to celebrate. Our kids improved with each and every single game in their knowledge of the game, physical abilities while learning how to manage attitudes, positive sportsmanship, and how to hold your chins high when you lose in a heartbreaker.

We have to thank our amazing parents who travelled mile after mile, took the kids to each and every single practice, washed every single uniform with never-ending stains. Our moms showed up to support each and every single game, bake yummy goods and provided dinner after dinner to keep our boys hydrated and well fed. The dads often showed up to practice and games and were always welcome to step onto the field to throw balls, pack up equipment, or wherever they could step up and offer a lending hand. DEDICATION is what all of our parents encompass and we are so thankful for their dedication to the Mission of Hicktown Baseball. We couldn't do it without them.

I could go on and on about what this season meant but all we can say is THANK YOU. We can't WAIT for next year. Be on the look out for more information in the coming weeks and months as we expand Hicktown Baseball to additional ages! Until then.....

This weekend was an absolute treasure.

Saturday we played Bitterroot Red Sox and lost 14 to 1 in the morning. That evening we played Kalispell Lakers and lost 20-12. This morning we played Butte and ended up losing in an absolute heart break but nail bitter all way to the end 9-8.

We wish we could express how proud we are of all these boys, how they have improved, and how amazing they are all becoming, not just on the baseball field but as friends. They are kind, driven, and are the best TEAMmates.

Today was a great start to the year. We lost miserably the first game to be truthful but boy did we learn an absolute amazing amount. Second game we lost again but you could really see how things were really starting to come together and boys putting pieces into the puzzle. Our boys got a lot time on the field. We may be young, but we are fierce and don't give up. So proud of these boys! We can't wait to see how we progress thru the season!

Thanks to ALL those that showed up to cheer these boys on. Here is a little piece of how we finally got to end the first - longest inning - ever!

Please help THANK THEM by bringing your local business to their establishments. These businesses allow amazing opportunities for our children that are often not available in small communities like ours.

If you give a boy a baseball, he will want a bat to go with it.

You’ll buy him the best bat you can find, and then he will probably want a bucket of balls and a glove and some cleats too.

Then, he will probably spend hours begging you to go out in the yard to play with him, even though you may want to sit on the couch and watch tv. He will insist. And his insistence will win.

And when a boy gets a jersey, he will need pants and socks and a belt to go with it. And a TEAM…..
And then life as you know it will end.

There will be no more lazy weekends watching tv. You will see more sunrises than you ever thought possible. Every spare minute of your time will be spent hauling buckets and bags and stinky cleats and crazy boys all over tarnation for hours to practice for a game.
THE GAME.

And your house will be a mess. And your car will be dirty. All because you gave a boy a baseball.

Your weekends will be spent freezing or burning to death on a fold-up chair. And his weekends will be spent gaining confidence and friends, and learning new skills and having fun and getting dirty. So dirty in fact that you will have to learn how to do laundry in a whole new way, like maybe at a carwash using the pressure washer.

And you will be there the day he hits his first home run, first strikeout, and his first double play. And he will make you SO proud. The other moms will congratulate you. But you feel weird saying thank you because it's not you at bat or on the mound. It's everything him. He did this.

And right before your eyes, your little boy will be transformed from the baby who spun around with his head on the bat, (because he loves attention), into a pitcher. Because he loves attention still.

When you give a boy a baseball, you give him more than just a ball. You give him a sport, and talent, and hope, and dreams, and friends, a new family, a place to learn about the life, room to grow as a person where he can push his limits, and bravery, and courage and LIFE, and memories. And he will have ALL of these things, simply because you gave a boy a baseball.

Because you gave a boy a baseball, you too will develop new/lifelong friendships, developed solely from the same passion for the game and love of your team. You will root together. And spew PG-13 things out of your mouths together. Because you gave a boy a baseball.

Then one day, many years from today….he will be in his room and a baseball will roll out from an old dusty bat bag underneath his bed. And he will pick it up and realize instantly that when you gave that boy a baseball, you also gave him a childhood that he would never forget. And then he will hug you, and your eyes may leak – because you realize that everything YOU gave up along the way…..was worth it!

All because you gave a boy a baseball ⚾️ …….

- Coach Lisle

- We are so blessed in our Dillon Community to have the hardworking volunteers from Beaverhead Little League, Beaverhead Bomb Squad and now Hicktown Baseball to help educate and love on these boys
