Still working on a few. An ulu from made from 26c3. The handle on the ulu is solid 100000 year old mammoth ivory and the pin is custom made from Russia. The stand uses mammoth tusk ivory and leather. A Serbian style kitchen knife made from 26c3 with a burl handle and Mosaic pins.
It has taken me quite some time but but I have managed to get this knife done as a donation for the 9th annual poker run to benefit disabled veterans. Medical procedures have helped and allow me to be able to work on knives once again. I am still unable to go for hours straight but a little here and there and I can get things done once. Made from D2 tool steel this knife is part of the raffle and tickets can be purchased from myself or through the Road Runners Bike Club for $10 each.
It is with great sadness that I will no longer be taking orders for knives. I have multiple medical problems that have worsened to the point of not being able to properly grind blades for more than a few minutes at a time. Hopefully I will be able to receive new medical procedures that may solve the issue enough to be able to get back to making knives. However with anything VA related it takes a lot of time to get things done. For those of you that have standing orders I apologize for the delay. I will be slowly working on finishing them. Unfortunately I cannot say how long it will take.
Burl wood handle on a customer's chef knife. He wanted to be able to hold it more forward while working. Custom Mosaic pins finish it off
Customer had a knife he had started in college. It is made out of a file. I built a burl wood handle with blue G10 liners. Finished it off with a hand ditched roughout sheath and sharpened it.
Just finished. This knife is made from D2 tool steel finished to approximately 58 Rockwell hardness. It is then etched in acid and hand sanded then re-etched several times to create a unique time worn finish. This perfectly compliments the hand finished woolley mammoth ivory handle with white G10 liners. Finally custom bar and shield handle pins add a touch of flair that any motorcycle rider will appreciate.
The sheath is being hand beaded by a fellow veteran. This knife is only available as one of the raffle prizes to benefit disabled Veterans. Tickets are available for $10 each with only 1000 tickets printed. Drawing will be held June 13th. More information can be found Road Runners Bike Club.
People often ask why a custom knife is more expensive than something you buy off the shelf. It's the time spent with your hands in each step making sure everything is just right. Especially the final finish. You can do a lot with machinery but in the end it's the hours spent doing things like hand sanding that makes an ordinary knife into a work of art. It's all in the details.
