We’re kicking off the morning with the Yellow Ribbon Project and Ford County Su***de Coalition’s annual ALIVE AND RUNNING 5K, starting and finishing at the Dodge City Civic Center. The 5K starts at 8:00 a.m. sharp and is held in support of su***de awareness and prevention right here in our community.

Also starting at 8:00 a.m. is the kickoff of our 2nd Annual FREE Health & Wellness Clinic, hosted by Flex Fitness and Q97.

This year, we are super excited to welcome back to Dodge City Dr. James Moffitt, Chief Medical Officer at Ashland Health Center. Dr. Moffitt has been practicing medicine in Dodge City and southwest Kansas since 2001 and is originally from north-central Kansas.

Come out and visit with Doc about any needs or questions you may have, meet the team from Ashland Health Center, enjoy a nice fall 5K through central Dodge City, and check out all of the other medical and wellness professionals we will have throughout the day.

One of the big things happening at this year’s clinic is an American Red Cross blood drive. If you’d like to donate blood while you’re there, you can go ahead and reserve your spot now.

We will also have a vision van providing FREE vision screenings and eyeglasses to people in our community who need them.

Our friends in Protection, KS are hosting their 1st Annual Protection FunFest 5K & 1-Mile Walk on Saturday, August 29th!

Whether you’re chasing a PR, getting your miles in, or just looking for a fun family event, this is a great opportunity to support another small Kansas community that’s growing its running culture.

The Dodge City 5K was a success. 🖤🏃🏽

Seeing so many people out there running is something special.

Running Culture showed up and put in the work. We train for moments like this, and I’m proud of every single person who wore our name. But I’m just as proud of everyone who lined up at the start, whether it was your first 5K or your fiftieth. You proved something to yourself today.

When we started Running Culture, we never set out to be the biggest. We just wanted to create a place where anyone could show up, feel welcomed, and fall in love with running.

Little by little, one run at a time, this community has grown. We were fortunate enough to help plant the seed, but this running community belongs to everyone who keeps showing up. Every Wednesday, every race, every early morning, every mile—you all are the reason running is thriving in Dodge City.

Watching this city embrace running has been one of the most humbling experiences of my life.

Thank you for believing in what we’re building. This is bigger than Running Culture. This is a movement, and we’re just getting started. 🖤
