At its monthly meeting, the CCSD#1 Recreation Board unanimously approved Travis Mortimore as the next Douglas Cats American Legion A Baseball Coach. Mortimore comes with a wealth of baseball knowledge, experience, and leadership from playing both at the college level and the AAA professional level.
He grew up in Torrington, Wyoming played Little League Baseball, Jr. Babe Ruth, and for the Torrington Tigers AA Legion Baseball team.
After finishing out his high school career, Mortimore went on to play at Colby Community College for two years. He then went on to play at Wayne State College his final two years.
After college, Mortimore was drafted by the Seattle Mariners organization in 2007. He was a standout pitcher for the organization and played for the AAA Tacoma Rainiers in 2007 and 2008. He was selected as a 2-time All-Star (2007/2008) and was a key asset on the team when they won the Arizona League Championship in 2007, as well as the California South Championship in 2009.
After spending some time as the Assistant Coach for his alma mater, the Torrington Tigers, and coaching within the Casper Oilers baseball organization, Mortimore was hired as the head coach for the Douglas Cats B team in 2018.
Travis, with his wife Brittany, have 3 children.
During the school year, you can find Mortimore at the Douglas Primary School teaching 1st grade.
The Douglas Recreation Center is excited for the 2021 Legion Baseball season and to have Travis leading our baseball program!

As I am sitting at games I just wanted to say how lucky we are to have such wonderful boys! Integrity on and off the field! Taking time to always acknowledge and play with my son no matter if it’s in the dugouts, on the field, around town, or in the stands! Lots of kids would think they were “too cool” for that! Well done parents! Proud of “our boys!” Go Cats! ⚾️ 🐾
