𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 & 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗯𝗼𝗮 🐾

Rocky refuses to look at the camera when I want a selfie. I can call his name, reposition him, even try to convince him with a treat. He remains completely committed to NOT participating. 😂

It reminded me of something:

𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢 𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙚𝙡𝙨𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙣 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪.

Healthy life & leadership skills require knowing what deserves your attention, what aligns with your priorities, and what you can allow to pass without feeling obligated to respond.

Sometimes the intentional shift is realizing:

𝙅𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙞𝙩.

Apparently, Rocky understood boundaries before I did. 😂🐾

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗣𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗘
𝘉𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘩 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘥...

This week, I’ve been in South Carolina spending time with my siblings.

And this time together feels a little different because it comes around the one-year anniversary of our oldest sister’s transition.

In the midst of the laughter and fun, loss still has a way of changing how you see time.

We say, “We need to get together.”
“We need to call.”
“We need to make time.”

And then life keeps moving. Schedules fill up. Responsibilities call. And before we know it, more time has passed.

But the people we love won't always be here.

So this week, I’m reminded that making time for the people who matter isn’t something we should keep putting on the calendar for 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘢𝘺.

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝗽 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.

📌 Make the call.
📌 Take the trip.
📌 Sit around the table.
📌 Laugh a little longer.
📌 Take the pictures.

Life will keep giving you things to do.

But time with the people you love is something you don't always get back.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗣𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗘
𝘉𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘩 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘥...

Be careful not to allow one difficult thing to convince you that everything is difficult.

This week, I found out I need to undergo another eye surgery.

But guess what else happened?

My Chapter 2 was officially APPROVED by my doctoral committee! 🙌🏽

Same week. Two very different realities.

And it reminded me that sometimes we can become so consumed by the thing that didn't go the way we wanted that we overlook the victory that showed up right beside it.

The difficult thing is real. But so is the victory.

So before you label this a bad week, a bad month, or even a bad season, take another look.

𝗕𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮 𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.

Peace isn't found when life gets quiet.

It's found when your heart learns to trust God in the middle of the noise.

The noise may get louder.
The demands may still be there.
The unexpected may still come.

But when your faith is solid & not wavering, your response will be different.

This week reminded me that not all growth is visible.

Sometimes God allows us to slow down because He's doing His deepest work beneath the surface.

Roots aren't glamorous, but they're necessary.

Before healthy fruit can grow, the root has to be healed, strengthened, and established.

So if this season feels slower than you'd like, don't lose heart.

𝗔 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘆𝗮𝗿𝗱

This morning, while letting my dog outside, I noticed a rabbit sitting quietly in the backyard.

It wasn't distracted by movement around it. It simply remained still.

Watching it reminded me that life and leadership isn't always about movement. Sometimes it's about remaining grounded despite the activity surrounding you.

We often feel pressure to react immediately... to every email, every request, every challenge, every unexpected change.

But not every distraction deserves a response.

As I reflected, one thought stayed with me:

**𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲.**

The rabbit remained where it was until the distant sound of a train's horn caused it to move.

It made me ask myself...

How much of my energy is spent reacting to things that don't actually require my attention?

Sometimes our greatest clarity comes not from moving faster, but from becoming still enough to discern what truly deserves our response.

That was my life and leadership lesson this morning.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮?

𝙈𝙊𝙏𝙃𝙀𝙍𝙃𝙊𝙊𝘿 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨...

For some women, it’s raising children.
For others, it’s grieving children, longing for children, mentoring others, nurturing family, leading communities, or simply loving people well.

And this weekend, I think every version of that woman deserves to be honored.

To the women who pour endlessly into others while still carrying their own silent battles…
To the women learning to balance strength with softness…
To the women who have experienced joy, loss, sacrifice, resilience, and unconditional love in different ways…

We celebrate you.

Not just for what you do for others,
but for who you are.

May this Mother’s Day remind every woman that your presence, your impact, and your love matter deeply.⚘️

𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙎 𝙔𝙀𝘼𝙍 𝙃𝘼𝙎 𝙎𝙏𝙍𝙀𝙏𝘾𝙃𝙀𝘿 𝙈𝙀!

Between surgeries, procedures, and forced pauses…I’ve had to face what “control” really means.

Control isn’t about having everything in place.
It’s about having the discipline to respond differently when things and life throw you a curveball.

This year—up until yesterday, April 30th—has been filled with unplanned procedures, necessary recoveries, and less control over my schedule.

And while it’s looked different than I expected,
I’ve been productive in a way that required me to slow down, listen, and realign.

𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩… 𝙘𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮.

Now here we are—May 1st.

I’m stepping into this month with clearer intention, and I'm more aligned and more disciplined in how I move.

That kind of clarity?
You don’t ignore it—you move differently because of it.

So what will you do differently with what this year has already shown you, and how will you choose to move forward stepping into this new month?
