❄️Special Olympics Pennsylvania Winter Sports Sign-Ups Are OPEN! ❄️

We’re getting ready for another amazing winter season! Athletes, Unified Partners, coaches, and volunteers can now sign up for winter sports.

🏂 Winter sports include:
🎳 Bowling
⛸️ Figure Skating
🏒 Floorball
🎿 Alpine Skiing
🏂 Snowboarding
❄️ Snowshoeing
⛸️ Speed Skating
🚶 Walking Clubs

There are 2 important steps to complete:

1️⃣ Sign up for your sport through the new “Play a Sport” page.

2️⃣ Complete your registration requirements in the Special Olympics PA Portal.

Both steps must be completed by October 15th!

We can’t wait to see everyone staying active, trying new sports, and having fun this winter!

⚽ WHAT A WAY TO KICK OFF THE SEASON! ⚽

Yesterday, our York Strikers traveled to Hokendauqua, PA for the 2026 Inclusion Cup and our athletes showed up ready to compete!

Our 5v5 team brought home the GOLD! And our Individual Skills athletes were absolutely amazing, bringing home GOLD, SILVER, and BRONZE medals!

This was our first competition of the season, and our athletes set the bar HIGH! We couldn't be more proud of the hard work, determination, teamwork, and heart they brought to the field. ⚽️

Congratulations to ALL of our York Strikers athletes! You represented Team York with so much pride and gave us plenty to celebrate!

Way to go, York Strikers! The season is just getting started!

🎾 The Corey Cup 🎾

On Sunday, August 30th, Dallastown High School hosted the annual Corey Cup, a Unified Tennis competition held in memory of former Special Olympics athlete Corey Markle.

We are so proud to share that Ryan Leathery won the Corey Cup this year! Congratulations, Ryan! We are so proud of you!

The Corey Cup is a wonderful way to honor Corey’s memory while bringing athletes, coaches, families, and friends together through the sport he loved. A special thank-you to Coach Deb Gable and Corey’s parents for continuing this meaningful tradition and helping make this event so special each year.

Corey’s memory continues to live on through the athletes and the Special Olympics community he was a part of.

Congratulations, Ryan, and to all of the athletes who participated!

Community Opportunity – Gigi’s Playhouse Lancaster

Sharing this information with our families and community about an upcoming Gigi’s Playhouse Lancaster Interest Meeting.

Gigi’s Playhouse is a Down Syndrome Achievement Center that provides educational, therapeutic, and support resources for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the organization, the programs they offer, and how they can support individuals and families in our area.

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE WEEKEND FOR TEAM YORK!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to the Sound Machine Music Festival at South County Brewing Co. this weekend and supported Special Olympics Team York! 🎶

From cheering on our athletes as they introduced the bands, to enjoying the food and music, bidding on our silent auction baskets, and making donations YOU showed our athletes just how amazing our community is!

Thanks to your generosity, we have already raised $2,363 through our silent auction and additional donations, with food sales proceeds still coming!

We are so incredibly grateful to South County Brewing Co., all of the businesses and individuals who donated auction items, everyone who volunteered, and every single person who stopped by to support Team York.

Your support helps us continue providing opportunities, experiences, and memories for our amazing athletes.

We couldn’t do it without our incredible community!

This weekend, Team York is heading to the Sound Machine Music Festival at South County Brewing Co. and we couldn’t be more excited!

Our athletes will be out there helping introduce the bands throughout the day on Saturday, giving them a chance to step into the spotlight and be part of an amazing community event.

So if you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, come hang out with us! Enjoy the music, grab some BBQ, have a cold craft b**r, check out the silent auction, and most importantly… show our Team York athletes some love!

We are so proud of our Global Messenger, Brian Honeychuck, who was invited to represent the Special Olympics at the grand opening of a new Sheetz in Lebanon!

As a Sheetz employee in York and an active member of Special Olympics, Brian had the opportunity to share a few words about his involvement with Special Olympics, thank Sheetz for their continued support, and talk about what it means to be part of the Sheetz team. He did an AMAZING job!

And the generosity didn’t stop there! Sheetz donated $2,500 to Special Olympics, and the property owner generously matched that donation with another $2,500, bringing the total to an incredible $5,000 donation! 🎉

We are so thankful for businesses and community partners who believe in inclusion and continue to support the athletes of Special Olympics. Most of all, we are incredibly proud of Brian for using his voice to represent our athletes and show the community what it means to be a Global Messenger.

🛶💙 Team York Kayaking Wraps Up a Great Season! 💙🛶

Our Team York kayakers gathered at Pinchot Park for an end-of-season picnic and a chance to celebrate a great season together!

This season, our athletes learned the skills of kayaking, gained confidence on the water, and had plenty of opportunities to learn, grow, and have fun along the way.

A special thank-you to our amazing coaches for their time, encouragement, and dedication in helping each athlete become more comfortable and confident in a kayak.

Thank you to all of our athletes, coaches, and families for making this such a wonderful season! We can’t wait to see where the next adventure takes us!
