Some people aren’t exhausted because they’re busy.

They’re exhausted from performing.

Performing calm.
Performing strength.
Performing “I’m okay.”

And over time…

that performance can disconnect you from yourself.

Real healing begins when you stop abandoning yourself
just to be accepted.

If you’re ready to stop performing your way through life
and start building real self-trust and nervous system safety…

If this resonated, save it for later…

There was a version of me that believed keeping other people comfortable was more important than being fully myself.

So I stayed quiet.

I people-pleased.

I shape-shifted.

I deferred to other people’s needs, opinions, emotions, and expressions while slowly disconnecting from my own.

And the hard part is…

I didn’t realize I was abandoning myself.

I thought I was being kind.
Easygoing.
Adaptable.

But underneath that was fear.

Fear of judgment.
Fear of rejection.
Fear of taking up space.

As a younger man, there were parts of my sexuality I hid because it didn’t feel safe to be fully seen.

And even later in life, while performing on stages and receiving applause, there were still moments where I struggled to fully inhabit myself while being perceived.

That’s the part people don’t always talk about.

You can be visible…

and still disconnected from yourself.

Healing has been learning to notice the small moments where I leave myself.

The moments where I override what I feel.
Shrink.
Silence myself.
Say yes when I mean no.

And little by little, I’ve practiced something different.

Staying.

Speaking.

Taking up space.

Letting myself be seen without abandoning myself in the process.

What a transformation that has been.

And honestly?

I want that for other people too.

If you’re ready to stop abandoning yourself and start building real safety and self-trust, I guide this work more deeply in my free monthly webinar.

Healing doesn’t begin when you become perfect.

It begins the moment you notice
you’re abandoning yourself…

and choose to come back instead.

⸻

That moment changes everything.

A lot of people are functioning…
but not actually feeling okay.

Their nervous systems are overloaded.
Their minds are constantly racing.
And their bodies never fully get a chance to exhale.

That’s part of why I created The Reset Room – DTLA.

A monthly in-person gathering designed to help you slow down, regulate your nervous system, and reconnect with yourself in a grounded and supportive space.

We begin with tea and a moment to settle.
From there, we move through:
• gentle Qigong
• guided rest + sound
• reflection
• and intentional community

No experience is needed.
No pressure to perform.
Just space to breathe and reset.

This experience is made possible through a location partnership with 🤍

Sometimes life looks fine on the outside…
but inside the body, there’s still tension, overwhelm, fatigue, or a nervous system that never fully settles.

Tonight’s live webinar was a powerful reminder that so many high-functioning people are quietly carrying more than others realize.

We explored nervous system regulation, emotional safety, embodiment, and how healing often happens through small, repeated experiences — not force, perfection, or “fixing” ourselves.

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who joined me live for this month’s experience.

And a heartfelt thank you to &lexstudios , my beautiful location partner for this monthly virtual event. Their generosity and support helped create such a grounded and welcoming space for this work.

If this kind of conversation speaks to you…
if you’ve been craving more calm, connection, and nervous system support…

I’d love for you to join me for next month’s live webinar.

What if your practice didn’t eliminate anxiety… but gave you space within it?

That’s the shift.

Through Qigong, mindful movement, and breath, you begin to create distance from the noise—so you can feel grounded, clear, and more like yourself again.

“This practice gives me space beneath my anxiety.”

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed or stuck in your head, this work can support you.

There’s a moment…

where you abandon yourself.

You stay quiet
when you want to speak.

You agree
when something doesn’t feel right.

You make yourself smaller
so others feel more comfortable.

It doesn’t happen all at once.

It happens in small moments.

And healing begins…

when you start to notice those moments
and choose to stay with yourself instead.

Visible… but still hiding

For a long time, I thought visibility and authenticity were the same thing.

I thought that because people could see me…

that meant I was fully showing up.

But looking back now, I can see that wasn’t true.

There were parts of my life where I stood on stages.

Dancing.
Singing.
Performing on Broadway.

People applauded.
People noticed me.
People saw my work.

And yet…

I often felt deeply uncomfortable being perceived.

After shows, I would rush past people at the stage door.

Avoid attention.

Get home as quickly as possible.

Part of me loved the validation.

And another part of me wanted to disappear.

That tug of war lived in me for a long time.

What I understand now is this:

I wasn’t just hiding from other people.

I was hiding from myself.

Because being fully seen didn’t feel safe in my body yet.

And I think a lot of us live this way without realizing it.

We become visible…

without actually letting ourselves be here.

We perform.
We overachieve.
We shape-shift.
We give people pieces of ourselves…

while quietly holding the rest back.

Not because we’re fake.

Not because we’re weak.

But because at some point…

being fully ourselves didn’t feel safe.

Healing, for me, has been learning how to stay.

To stay present in my body while being seen.

To stop abandoning myself in moments of visibility.

And now?

I’m in a different season.

I want to take up space.

I’ve earned it.

I deserve it.

And honestly?

I want that for other people too.

Not performative visibility.

Not attention for the sake of attention.

But the kind of safety that allows you to fully be yourself…

without leaving yourself in the process.
