While I sit here waiting for my feet to thaw, I am reflecting on 2017. Ever since I can remember, I had a passion for horses. so when we were able to buy Gannet Hill I was beyond thrilled. I wanted to call it Fairy Tale Fields but nobody liked that name and it is kind of childish. But this was my fairy tale and I was lucky enough to be able to get my dream farm and keep my horses at home. It has been wonderful. I’ve been able to ride Nick in the fields and love seeing him every day.
Well, every fairy tale usually has a problem or an issue that the heroine must work through in order to, ‘live happily ever after.’ First we had lots of rain that made lots of mud and I spent my afternoons happily digging irrigation ditches. Now we have the cold snap and I am trying to seal up the barn in order to keep the cold winter winds at bay. And this morning we have snow. They said less than an inch but there is an inch out there and it is still snowing. So I was just outside with the leaf blower trying to BLOW WINTER away. I am fighting a losing battle and feel defeated. I used up all my fairy god mother wishes when I bought this place. Mother Nature is just going to have to do her will. Now back with the shovel so I can clear a path to a turnout for the horses.
