In chronological order from evening of 8/13 when we found the eye poke, the vet appointment the next morning to this morning 8/17. Please help this worried horse mom tell if this progress is adequate?

We are doing:

S-serum 4-6 x daily
LA- Liquid Antibiotic 4-6 x daily
OA- Oral antibiotic- 1 x daily
B- banamine 1x Daily

I think by comparing these photos I do see reduced inflammation and the cloud becoming more
Translucent and shrinking. But I’m a worry wort and never feel like I’m doing a good enough job.

Thoughts on progress?

🚨 Update 🚨8/17

I sent this over to the vet plus the treatment logs, she said yes it’s improving but not near as much as she would like. So she is having me bring her in tomorrow morning to culture the eye, make adjustments to antibiotics accordingly and also adding an anti fungal drop too. She said horses are natorious for fungal infection in eye wounds. So fingers crossed we get the medication regimen to a therapeutic level and we see drastic improvements.

🚨Second Update🚨8/18

Went back to the vet this morning for a culture and more antibiotic drops and serum. We decided to add the anti-fungal drops/ointment as it seems to have plateaued in progress.

We are now treating 10-12 times a day and taking turns at night to go out and treat her so there are zero lapses in antibiotic exposure.

She will do another 10 days of oral antibiotic to work internally as well as the eye drop antibiotics 12 x a day.

If after adding the anti-fungal for 4-5 days there isn’t substantial improvement we will be going to a larger equine Veterinarian for higher level of care and recourses.

Please keep the prayers coming for this sweet and very patient filly that she keeps her eye! She has been a saint during this process.

It took close to 5 minutes to get him to cross, lots of pep talking but he did it! Lundy was trying so hard to be brave, he did so good. Not that he understands our words but they understand energy and we were very proud, so I hope he felt that!
