A point a piece in the derby, which should have been all 3!
The STAGS started the game off with a flyer, as the away side dominated possession and kept the ball in Haslemereβs half for large periods. The deadlock was soon unlocked too, as Schorah found Masella to finish superbly into the roof of the net on 9 minutes! 1-0! The second soon followed, as the best play of the game unfolded. The STAGS moved the ball slickly across the pitch to Cooper, who provided a pin point pass to Sutcliffe and his audacious first touch plucked it out the sky and his second lobbed the stranded keeper. 2-0! With 16 minutes gone and the STAGS flying it looked like more goals were on the cards. The STAGS continued to push strongly during the first half, but unfortunately some naive finishing and good saves kept the scoreline to 2-0 where they should have killed the game off.
The second half was a much different story, as the STAGS defended set piece after set piece from Haslemere. With the home side not looking to play any football, they finally managed to reduce the deficit, as a long throw found its way into the net. The STAGS would have the next big moment though, as Schorah rolled the Haslemere centre half and created a 3v1, but the STAG no9 sadly misplaced his pass and the chance to kill the game off and cemented our donkey of the day. Haslemere would eventually equalise with another set piece, this time from a corner. The STAGS still had another opportunity to clinch the win and take 3 points, but the Haslemere keeper pulled off a top save from a Luff header. All square by the end, but definitely should have taken all 3 on the night.

The little magician was up to his tricks again, as the goal of the season was supplied on the final game of the season by the genius himself.

Even though he was in the running for man of the match, unfortunately his missed opportunity to win the game for the STAGS was enough to win the award.

A makeshift 11 travelled to Lightwater on Saturday afternoon, as the firsts and ressies joined forces π¦
The STAGS started brightly and should have opened the scoring with 5 minutes, as Goodwright had his effort saved. Shortly after, Marshall was cleaned out by the home keeper too, but somehow NO penalty given! It was the STAGS who eventually took the lead though and deserved at the time, as a superb Odendaal pass found Marshall to finish smartly in the bottom corner. Lightwater were soon back level though, as a refereeing error allowed the home side to equalise from the spot after a top tackle from Bricklebank was wrongly penalised. It was the home side who would score the next to, as a corner wasnβt dealt with from the STAGS and the ball was eventually scrambled over the line.
A reaction needed at half time, but it never really came. Although, it was the STAGS who would next have the ball in the net after the ball came off a Lightwater player and made its way to Schorah to finish, only to be awarded offside with another awful officiating decision. The STAGS looked like they were causing half a problem to the Lighwater defence, but with nothing really materialising clearly. The day was finally summed up for the STAGS in the last minute, as a disaster scene occurred at the back. Tytler, Luff & Taylor all struggled to deal with the long ball, which someone found its way to the lone Lighwater struck to fire home and I think that said it all.
A terrible away performance from the STAGS on their last Saturday game of the season. All eyes to Tuesday now for the final 3 points up for grabs in the derby!
