Last week we closed our 2025-26 season with our annual team banquet. Such a successful season with Varsity placing third in the regular season and going to double OT in the state Semi-finals and winning the Cowball Cup. JV was equally impressive knocking off the #1 seed at State to battle till the final minutes in the state championship game. Maybe even more impressive is both teams did it while winning the league sportsmanship awards for fewest penalty minutes in the season.
The banquet had coach Austin Willenborg share on the values of the team and why that sportsmanship award is so meaningful, while thanking the Seniors for their leadership and encouraging the underclassmen to follow in their example. We also heard from our world class broadcaster Jason Sheehy on the importance of the brotherhood they develop and how that means so much more in the future then a goal or a win. We wrapped it up with traditional Senior speeches and closed the book on this season.
Personally this ends a 18 year youth hockey journey for your social media poster that included coaching many of these players on this team and many of the past 7 years, including my 3 boys. Very proud of the men and women these players have grown into. It's been amazing to watch this program grow and it's in good hands. I'll sneak a few more posts in for some individual award honors but consider this my signoff and you will get a new voice next season. For those that know me, see you at the rink or more likely a concert! 😂
Finally thank you to all of sponsors this season, coaches, staff, friends, family and most importantly players for a season to be proud of!

Two weeks ago JV was battling to qualify for state with their destiny in their own hands. They won 4 out of 5 to get the last bid into state and a matchup with a Lincoln team that lost one regulation game all season. 3 days later and they leave the state tournament in second place battling a tough Des Moines Capitals with only a goal separating them till the final minutes in an eventually 3 to 1 loss. However, not a loss at all when you see how far the team traveled to get there. Tyler Randall had our lone goal, a short hander and Trevor Breen was amazing in net again.
That concludes our season but what a great one it was for both varsity and JV, thank you to our fans, sponsors, families and most importantly our staff, coaches and players who put in so many hours to make our program excel!
Also thanks to Connor Sheehy for the photos!
