McKenna Academy of Dance High quality dance instruction for ages 18 months to adult located in Dunkirk, NY. Come join our dance family!

Created by Sally Crino in 1973, our dancing school offers lessons for children age 3 (potty trained) to Adults. Rosanne Chesbro assumed ownership in 1998 and has expanded offerings for; pre-school StoryDance, Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Pom (Cheer dance without stunting), Irish soft-shoe and hard shoe, and Adult Dance. Jessie McKenna will take directorship of the school in Fall 2018.

Meet another one of our fabulous teachers this season! Miss Sarah!

Hi, my name is Sarah Howard. I am an alumnus from McKenna Academy of Dance, and have returned two years later as a teacher! This will be my second year here teaching Contemporary and Jazz 12+, and my first year choreographing for the competition team. I have been dancing for 17 years and am currently attending SUNY Fredonia with a BFA in Dance as well as a minor in theater. I have taken classes from professionals in the field of dance, and have been in a music video choreographed and directed by the cofounder of the CLI Conservatory, Teddy Forance. I am so excited for another amazing year teaching these talented kids!

Parents worry about a lot of things. Are my children eating the right things? Are they prepared for school? Are they making friends? How do I keep them active? How do I get them off their screens? How do I make sure they are becoming well rounded humans?

Well, worry not. We are 100% serious when we say that while, no, we are not miracle workers, DANCE is transcendent miracle and can help with MOST of those things! Make friends, stay active, stay off of devices, in an activity that is enriching, healthy for the body and mind and FUN!

It's so much more than tutus and ballet shoes. It's building well rounded little humans while having a blast doing it!

Hi dance friends! Tonight is the last night of Open House. I unfortunately had to go to a funeral in Canada this afternoon and I got stuck at the border for longer than I’d hoped. I will be late to open house. If any of you are planning on coming tonight, please plan for 5pm-8pm. You can still register online any time! Sorry about the inconvenience!
