We’re doing it again!...
…and the Tennessee Tree Toppers Local Voodoo Free-Flight Weather Calendar is nearing completion. What it really needs now are your seasonal free-flight images, depicting our favorite aerial activity in the varying environs offered by our planets tilt and twirl.
Did you launch from a snow-covered ramp or hillside to fly over trees laden with rime ice sparkling in the sun? Did you speck out over the primavera to capture scenes of forests glowing with the new neon green of spring? Did you dance with thunderstorms and the towering cumulus of summer for high altitude cloudbase shots from the wispies. Or, did you enjoy the mellow autumnal elevator to altitude to snap an unbelievable pallet of fall color. Whichever season in which you photographed hang gliding and/or paragliding, we’d like to feature those images in the latest TTT Voodoo Calendar! Just send them to [email protected] along with descriptive text, if you like.
If you weren’t around for the last one, you may be wondering, "What in the world is a Voodoo Calendar?” We’re so glad you asked! It’s an almanac-based calendar highlighting your significant anniversaries, along with those of other aviation pioneers, and offering weather forecasts for the earth's entire trek about its star. Now, if you believe in long-range weather forecasting, then you should probably brush up on the fundamentals of meteorology, 'cause you just never can tell what that butterfly in China's going to do. Nevertheless, that glaring fact has in no way impeded the TTT from assembling a calendar which attempts to gaze into the crystal ball for weather awaiting us a ways down the road. Of course, it includes an upfront disclaimer regarding flight planning, which should be completely superfluous for anyone qualified to fly.
So, what's the point? Fundraising, of course, along with celebration of the TTT 50th Anniversary, for which we’d like to raise enough money to celebrate with more than a few hot dogs and firecrackers. Like the pre-Facebook community calendars of yore, we'll offer daily listings of important anniversaries, such as weddings, birthdays, significant flights, etc. for a fee. We'll offer advertising for a fee, hopefully enough to cover production. Finally, we'll sell them at an unreasonable price... hopefully… all of which will support your friendly free-flight cooperative.
If long-range forecasting is bunk and Facebook broadcasts your anniversaries worldwide, who needs one? ONLY EVERYBODY WHO WANTS TO SUPPORT THE TREE TOPPERS!
Wherever you have it prominently displayed it will pronounce your support of the TTT and display the beauty of Free Flight with which you fell in love. Then, you can wait for the day when you point out for everyone your big anniversary, whether birthday, wedding, or record-breaking XC! Who knows, you may even get to retell the story!
