Dunwoody Throws

Congratulations to the Dunwoody High School boys track team for securing a 5th place at the GHSA STATE Track & Field Meet.

Special thanks go to Blake Williams , Alex Loffredio .loffredio , Jayden Saintil, Malachi Crenshaw and Omari Carroll for their performances. We think this finally solidifies Dunwoody High Scool as a Track and Field Powerhouse!

The Throws portion of the 2025 GHSA 5A State Championship has concluded. Jr. Kaz Mcloughlin turned in a stellar performance by earning 16 points for the Wildcats with Silver medals in both the Shot Put [40' 2"] and Discus Throw [131'2"]. These marks respectively are 6 feet and 14 feet further than her throws last year at state. This is a testimony to the hard work and dedication that Kaz has exhibited this past year.

Kaz will be competing again next week in the Meet of Champions Shot Put before beginning her off-season.

Words cannot express how proud we are of her !

The GHSA 5A Region 4 Track & Field Championships were contested this weekend with the throwers contributing major points to the effort!

In the Girls Discus throw, once again, All three of our Varsity Girls Discus throwers scored points at the meet.

Sr. Chloe Warren scored 2 points for the Wildcats with another pr throw in Discus of 80-11. Aside from thisn Chloe also contributed 4 points in the pole vault for 6 points scored overall !

Sophomore Chloe Van Grofsky scored 3 points in both Discus and Shot Put with throws of 81-1 and 32-7 respectively. Her Individual effort of 6 points reflects her hard work this season

Junior Kaz Mcloughlin scored 8 points in Discus [133-10] and 10 in Shot Put with a throw of 40-5. These throws put Kaz at 2nd in 5A in Discus and third in Shot Put. Overall, the Girl throwers contributed 26 points to the team total. The 5A Girls throws competition in Rome on May 9 will be worth the price of admission!

On the Boys side, Jr. Julian Daisy .daisy76 got a pr in Discus of 101 and Sr. Julian Madison scored 4 points for the Wildcats with a throw of 111-4 and a 5th place finish. Mr. Madison just started throwing this season and made tremendous strides in a short time!

The Dekalb County [GA] Track & Field Championships are underway and , once again, the throwers did not disappoint !

In the Girls Discus throw, All three of our Varsity Discus throwers scored points at the meet. This very rarely happens at meet with 22 schools contesting!

Sr. Chloe Warren scored points for the Wildcats with a pr throw in Discus of 78-8!. It is notable that Chloe also competed in the 800m and pole vault !

Sophomore Chloe Van Grofsky scored points at the County Meet in Discus and Shot Put with throws of 79-2 and 31-3 respectively. We are expecting great things from her in the upcoming weeks!

Junior Kaz Mcloughlin scored bronze in Discus and gold in Shot Put with a throw of 39-9.5! That Shot Put would have earned Gold in the Fulton, Gwinnett, APS and Cobb Championships! Overall, the Girl throwers contributed 26 points to the team total. This is a testimony to their hard work and dedication over the past several years.

Your Dunwoody Track and Field Wildcats had a great day in the throws events!

Junior placed first in Discus [124' 6"] and second in Shot Put [38' 10", a 4 foot pr!]. These throws should put Kaz at the top of the leaderboard in 5A in both events

Senior [Chloe Warren] notched a pr in Discus with a throw of 65' 3.25"! Chloe also competed in the 1500m race !

Senior Julian Madison and Junior Daisy both competed in their second track meet ever! Both notched progressive throws that are showcasing their hard work and dedication.

Sophomore putting a consistent shot put series and had a personal record throw!.

So proud of these athletes for their performances today!

The Throwers had their first meet of the 2025 Campaign.

We had 4 throwers Chloe Warren , Julian Daisy and and Olivia Madison] compete in their first throws meet and competed well in the cold and rain. We are looking forward to their development in the near future.

Junior turned out first place finishes in both throws events and is the number one girls discus thrower in all classifications through week one !

I'm not sure where to start other than to say that I literally could not be more proud of the Dunwoody Throws crew.

I had Seniors this year that will be sorely.missed.

Aaron Lafoon placed 8th at the 2024 GHSA 6A Championships in Discus with throw of over 142.

Aaron has probably been the most consistent worker that I have seen. Last year, he was throwing in the 120's in Discus and has a pr of 151 this year. Aaron is routinely the lightest competitor at meets [6'2" 185 lbs] while out-throwing athletes much larger! Aaron won the Dekalb County Championships and the Region 4-6A Championships this year to go along with his podium performance at State !
Aaron is undecided in his college choice, but has several offers and has been accepted to every college that he applied to.

Luke Cole .cole13 is also one of the hardest workers we have ever had! Luke placed 6th in Shot Put with a pr throw of 51-10. Luke accomplished his goal and earned a podium spot for his efforts. Luke was also the Region Defensive Player of the year in Football and will be attending Centre College on a football scholarship.

Sophomore Kaz Mcloughlin has had a great track season despite playing softball, flag football and having a job lol. Kaz earned a 7th place finish in Discus [117 feet] and an 11th place finish in Shot Put with a huge pr of 34' 8.75". This classification was.the toughest for girls throwing with 5 competitors over 120 feet in Discus !

Kaz has a bright future and will throw much further the future !

The Dunwoody Throwers had an exceptional meet at the GHSa 6A Sectionals (thE last qualifying meet for State)

Sophomore Kaz Mcloughlin advanced in Shot pot and Discus despite being seeded much lower.

We are so proud of these athletes and the progess that they made this season. They will be competing the GHSA State 6A Meet in Rome, GA on Thursday. See you there !!!

The Dunwoody Wildcat throwers dominated at the 2024 GHSA 6A Region 4 Meet !

On the Boys side, Senior Aaron Lafoon earned a Gold Medal in the Discus Throw and 6th Place in the Shot Put! Aaron scored 13 points for the Wildcats and will compete in Sectionals next Saturday

Senior Luke Cole .cole13 earned a Silver Medal in Discus and a Gold Medal in Shot Put
Luke earned 18 points for the Wildcats and will be competing next Saturday in sectionals

Senior Stephen Crespo scored personal.bests in both Discus [10th place] and Shot Put. Stephen has been throwing for only 2 months and peaked at the right time !

On the girls side, Sophomore Kaz Mcloughlin earned. Gold Medal in Discus and a Bronze Medal in Shot Put. Kaz earned 16 points for the Wildcats and will be competing Sectionals next Saturday. It is to be noted that Kaz has 2 more years to compete and has a bright futrein Track & Field !

Junior Chloe Warren competed in her FIRST SHOT PUT COMPETITION at Regionals! She competed hard and only missed the finals by 1.75 inches! Chloe also competes in Pole Vault and earned 3 points (6th place) for the Wildacts in that event.

These throwers have put in alot of work and effort this season. However, the excitement is not over as we have 2MIRE METS TO GO !!!

We are so proud of them !!!
