Hey all, I just revamped my Costa Rica trip in January!

I couldn’t imagine going all the way there and not getting any jungle time, so now it’s going to be 1/2 jungle, 1/2 beach and I just rented a fabulous retreat center right by Arenal.

Who wants to add a little adventure and warmth to their lives in the cold, dark of winter?

There is nothing like traveling to help you appreciate being home.

I know a lot of us like to get away, experience new cultures, new landscapes, new foods, new places - it’s all so amazing and full of awe. But just as important, I think, is the amount of gratitude we bring back for the places where we live.

Family, friends, animals, the same routes, the same foods, the same bed…a new perspective of our familiar places.

It’s one of the things I really love about travel. How about you?

One last morning in Turkiye and I’m going to go dip my toes in the Black Sea and spend some time in quiet gratitude for another incredible journey.

The only consolation to being done riding horses and bikes is all the fun we get to have afterwards:

• a beautiful and spiritual whirling dervish ceremony

• a private Turkish cooking class (I think it’s traditional meatballs for dinner tonight)!

• a feast for the senses at one of the oldest bathhouses in the country

• sharing a happy hour on the rooftop with some Efes - the best local brew ever

After all of these years, I still don’t quite believe that this gets to be my job!

Absolutely phenomenal rides for both groups today!

A ride-up pomegranate juice bar in the middle of rock landscapes run by 2 nice women. Yes,fresh pomegranate juice is delicious!

Fairy chimneys for miles with caves and dwellings carved out of the rocks. And an amazing cafe for lunch in their midst.

Nice sandy spots for some fast gallops and trails that went up and down and around, weaving through remote areas where the tourists don’t ever go.

Technical and tricky single track trails for both horses and bikes (I’m super glad to be in a horse, by the way)…

And it’s only the 2nd day. We’re all tired tonight so it’s dinner and bed for all of us!

After 7 days of being in the cities. We all felt so good to be riding!

Beautiful and fun 🐴 + 🚴 = 💕

This is why I travel:

The barista who makes the best coffee in the world and whose favorite band is Black Sabbath.

The father and son duo that owns the small music shop and makes all of the traditional wooden instruments by hand.

The street corner “doner” deli that’s been operating at the same place for 60 years. Started by the grandfather, passed on to the son and now run by the grandson. Yes, the sandwiches were delicious.

The group of men that smoked a lot and worked upstairs making the mosaic lamps and metal by hand. They also served cookies to us, made by their mom along with hot apple tea.

The woman that’s been at the counter making 100s of pitas by hand every day in one of the busiest shops in Kayseri.

The small connections across cultures!
