Durham! WD Hill Recreation Center, where we play futsal on Thursdays, just got a state historical marker commemorating the legendary Algonquin Club, an African American social club where rising young tennis stars like Arthur Ashe and Althea Gibson played during the segregation era.

As Mayor Schewel noted in remarks, this club should not have been necessary, but it was, and it served a vital need with distinction.

We're saying goodbye to Kosta, but he isn't in this picture. However, Crystal Dunn is! We met her last fall at East End Park. She's the starting left back for the US women's national team. They're playing for the World Cup title on Sunday morning at 11. Our event starts a few hours later at East End Park!
