๐ฆฏ Today is National White Cane Safety Day!
For people who are blind or visually impaired, the white cane is an essential tool that helps them navigate the world with greater confidence, freedom, and independence.
But why is an axe-throwing venue talking about white canes? ๐ช๐ค
Because our world might revolve around throwing sharp things at wooden targets, but at the heart of it all, weโre about people. โค๏ธ
We may not all share the same experiences, but we do share this human experience. And weโre pretty darn passionate about making sure EVERYONE feels welcome, included, and part of the axe-throwing fun!
We also like to push the boundaries of who can throw axes, and today is also a shout-out to two of our league members who have taught us a whole lot about accessibility and whatโs possible in our sport: Zach & Kevin!
Thank you both for being part of our axe family. Youโve brought an extra level of zany to our already wonderfully kooky crew, and we wouldnโt have it any other way! ๐ฏ๐คช
A few important lessions we've learned:
ASK FIRST if someone needs/wants help (consent matters!).
DON'T make assumptions about what someone can/can't do.
Come check it out for yourself!
