Organized and fully supported bicycle tours in the state of North Carolina. In 2004, CNC introduced it's first 3-day Spring Ride held annually in April.

In 1997, North Carolina Amateur Sports, the North Carolina Division of Tourism, the North Carolina Department of Transportation and Capitol Broadcasting Company discussed the idea of starting a fully supported cross-state bicycle tour in North Carolina. Two years later in 1999, the Cycle North Carolina "Mountains to Coast" fall ride began its inaugural trek across the State of North Carolina. Sinc

Day 1 of our Mountains to Coast test ride was a success! 🚴‍♂️✅

Yesterday, our riders rolled out of Mount Airy and made their way toward Eden, winding through beautiful farmland, quiet country roads, and charming small towns, with incredible views of both Pilot Mountain and Hanging Rock rising in the distance along the way.

The team fueled up with breakfast at Luna Trail Farm, rode within sight of the Virginia state line, explored a potential rest stop at Carrolwood Farms, and rolled through Stoneville before finishing the day in Eden.

After more than 65 miles in the saddle and plenty of valuable route feedback collected, Day 1 was a success. Now it's time for Day 2! Stay tuned as we share more highlights, behind-the-scenes moments, and what’s waiting for participants on the road ahead!

One of our favorite traditions each year kicked off today, the Mountains to Coast test ride!

Before our riders hit the route in October, a few members of our staff head out to experience it themselves. Their mission? Find the great spots, catch any rough patches, and make sure everything is ready for an amazing rider experience from start to finish.

Today marks the beginning of their adventure. They ride as our riders will so day 1 means Mount Airy to Eden. If you see our them out on the road, give them a wave and show them a little love. They're working hard, but also having a pretty great time doing it! 😎

Lake Lure reopens after over a year closure removing Helene debris 05/22/2026

Lake Lure is BACK OPEN and we couldn’t be more excited!

After everything this community has been through, it’s incredible to see visitors back on the water and local businesses welcoming people once again. This video captures just a small glimpse of what makes Lake Lure such a special place — and if you pay close attention, you’ll even spot Rumbling Bald, the starting overnight stop from last year’s Mountains to Coast Ride! 🚴‍♂️

We want to give a huge THANK YOU to our many participants who have stepped up over the past couple of years to support Lake Lure through our fundraising efforts and personal donations of their own. Your generosity has meant so much to this community, and we’re proud that, together, we’ve been able to play a small part in helping the town rebuild and recover.

The sound of rushing water, a riverside campsite, and one of the Roanoke River’s most unique features all in one place — that’s what awaits you at our overnight stop in Weldon.

Our campsite sits beside the last major rapid on the Roanoke River before the water begins its long journey across the coastal plain toward the Albemarle Sound. Located along the fall line where the Piedmont meets eastern North Carolina, this stretch of river features a 6-to-7-foot drop and can range from a Class II to Class III rapid depending on water levels, which are controlled by upstream dam releases and hydroelectric generation.

For paddlers, the most common route through the rapid is a narrow channel on the right known as “The Dumpster” and if conditions are right during our overnight stop on the Mountains to Coast Ride, you just might get to watch kayakers take on the rapid right from camp. 👀🚣

Tar Heel Traveler: Peanut Factory in Henderson 05/15/2026

Did you catch Henderson on Tar Heel Traveler last night? 👀🥜🍦

One of our overnight stops on this year’s Mountains to Coast Ride was featured by WRAL as they highlighted The Peanut Factory — a locally owned favorite serving up a little something for everyone. And yes, every meal comes with FREE ice cream! 😎

Check out the video to hear more about their story, and make sure to add The Peanut Factory to your must-visit list while you’re in Henderson this October!

Contrary to popular belief… we don’t exactly kick our feet up after an event 😅

The past two days have been a blur of unloading trucks, cleaning gear, packing everything back up, and returning vehicles. It’s not glamorous, but it’s all part of making the magic happen.

And we wouldn’t have it any other way. Already looking forward to doing it all over again soon. Next up... Mountain Ride!
