In recognition of Lyme Disease Awareness Month, the Vilas County Public Health Department, Trees for Tomorrow, Tara Lila Trail Management Organization, and Vilas Coalition on Activity and Nutrition will be hosting their first annual Tick Free Trek on Saturday, May 16th, 2026!

This event is free to the public and will be focused on providing education about the symptoms and long-term effects of Lyme Disease and other tick-borne illnesses. An hour-long guided hike through the Tara Lila Trail System will educate participants on reducing the risk of tick bites and how to enjoy the outdoors safely.

Join us on April 25, 2026, for our first BioBlitz at our Ripco Road location. Trees For Tomorrow will be leading three sessions throughout the day to help us learn what flora and fauna are in our beautiful Northwoods.
A BioBlitz is a collaborative effort where scientists and citizen scientists work together to identify and document as many species as possible within a specific area during a set period of time. During this event, participants will help collect data along a designated trail on the Tara Lila property, creating a snapshot of the species present in late April.
