Maushop Equestrian Center

Maushop Equestrian Center We are a quiet, welcoming horse stable located in East Falmouth where the art of horseback riding meets a passion for horsemanship. Here each student is unique.

Flexibility is the key at MEC. We try to place a student in a group where he or she will succeed. We have learned that age, experience, goals, and ability are all factors to be considered when teaching a student. With more than 20 years of teaching experience, our instructors work to place each rider into a group where they will achieve -- and build on their love of horses. Riding can be an expensive hobby. Maushop Equestrian Center (MEC) strives to make this special activity both fun and affordable.

❤️ An update on one of our littlest barn mascots, Gunther! ❤️

On Tuesday night, Gunther was hit by a car, and we rushed him to Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists, where we learned he had a femur fracture. This morning, we brought him to Leach Animal Hospital, where his injured leg was amputated.

The good news is that he’s already back home, resting and recovering! 🐾 We’re hopeful that after a couple of weeks of rest, he’ll be back to his usual self and ready to take on (closely monitored 😉) barn life again.

We can’t thank everyone enough for checking in, reaching out, and asking about our sweet boy. We were told he was a very talkative and wonderful patient, which is no surprise to anyone who knows him! 🥰

We are incredibly thankful to the teams at Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists and Leach Animal Hospital for taking such wonderful care of him. 💙🐾

They’ve been putting in the work at home, and we’re so proud of their progress. We love how organized this association is and how it gives our riders a fun way to stay motivated and keep working toward their goals.

In Memory of Dickens

Yesterday, Dickens told us it was his time, and he passed away peacefully, with a full belly of his favorite grain. ♥️

Born in 1989 and almost 18 hands tall, Dickens was by far the biggest and oldest horse we’ve ever had the pleasure of having at the barn. Although Dickens was only with us for a short time, we had known about him for as long as we’ve known about Valdon. It was incredibly special that these two brothers were able to meet one another—and that we got the chance to finally meet the famous Dickens, too.

We hope Dickens has been reunited with his mom and is busy telling her all about his adventures. 🐎

Our thoughts are with Jimmy and his family, as well as Dickens’ previous caretaker, Ripley, who cared for him for over 15 years and lovingly saw him through his retirement and transition to us. ❤️🐎
