As Doug says, “You can’t spell legendary without legs.”
Training legs is so important, especially for men 40+.
West Islip Fitness Director Doug Wentz breaks down why lower body training becomes even more important as you age 👇
Stronger legs = better balance, joint support, and reduced risk of injury
More muscle mass = higher metabolism and better hormone health
And let’s not forget… your legs are your foundation for everything you do
If you want to move well, feel strong, and stay independent as you get older, it starts from the ground up.
Train smart. Train strong. Don’t neglect the base. 💪
Bumper plates vs. iron plates—what’s the real difference? 👀
Our East Islip Fitness Director breaks it down đź’Ş
✔️ Bumper plates are all the same diameter, no matter the weight—so your bar stays at the same height and your range of motion stays consistent on lifts like deadlifts
✔️ Iron plates change the height of the bar as you add lighter weights (like 5s), forcing you into a deeper pull
✔️ And using iron plates on the platform? Big no 🚫—it can cause serious damage
Using the right plates isn’t just preference—it impacts your form, safety, and performance.

Sunday night well spent. 💪🥤
Our East Islip front desk team came together tonight for a shake seminar focused on one thing: delivering top-quality, consistent protein shakes to our members every single time.
The seminar was hosted by FitLife’s Assistant General Manager, Thea, who walked the team through the details that make a difference — from ingredients and preparation to presentation and consistency.
The truth is, not many teams would come together on a Sunday night for something like this. But at FitLife, the details matter. The experience our members have matters. And the quality of everything we offer, even something as simple as a shake, matters.
We’re proud of our team for always being willing to learn, improve, and go the extra mile for our members. 👏
Because at FitLife, we don’t just serve shakes, we serve them right

🍀 March Shake of the Month: The Shamrockin’ Shake 🍀
Refuel, recover, and refresh after your workout with our Shamrockin’ Shake — a powerful blend designed to help your body recover while giving you nutrients that support overall health.
After a tough lift, your muscles need protein and nutrients to repair and rebuild. A post-workout protein shake helps jumpstart muscle recovery, reduce soreness, and support lean muscle growth so you can come back stronger for your next workout.
Our Shamrockin’ Shake is packed with ingredients that do more than just taste good:
✨ Vanilla Whey Protein – High-quality protein that helps support lean muscle mass, recovery, and strength development after training.
🌿 Organic Matcha Green Tea – A natural source of antioxidants, which help protect your cells from oxidative stress caused by intense exercise and everyday life. Antioxidants also support overall wellness and immune health.
🥥 Almond Milk – Rich in Vitamin E, which helps support healthy skin, protects cells from damage, and promotes overall skin health.
🍫 Cacao Nibs – Packed with magnesium, an essential mineral that supports muscle function, nerve health, energy production, and recovery after exercise.
🥣 Yogurt – A great source of probiotics that support gut health and digestion, which plays a huge role in nutrient absorption and overall wellness.
🌱 Mint – A refreshing ingredient and source of Vitamin A, which supports immune function, eye health, and healthy skin.
