On Tuesday evening, the Easthampton School Committee made the following decisions regarding winter sports for 2020-2021:
Basketball & Hockey: Neither basketball nor hockey will have a competitive season this year, but both will be allowed to have practices. Use of the EHS gymnasium will be allowed three days/week for 1.5 hour sessions. Only EHS students will be allowed to participate (no co-op students from other schools). Players will be required to present proof of a negative COVID test that was administered after January 1 in order to begin participating. In addition, players will be required to get tested weekly in order to continue to participate in practices. Strict protocols will need to be adhered to during indoor practices, including, but not limited to:
Masks worn while in the gym
Distancing of six feet between participants at all times (no physical contact allowed)
Individually assigned areas in the bleachers for seating and storing personal belongings
Entry through the outside door, and use of bathrooms near the locker rooms
Additional protocols will be explained by the Athletic Director and/or coaches.
Students may still sign up for any of these three sports here: https://www.familyid.com/organizations/easthampton-high-school
Finally, if you signed up already and no longer wish to participate, please go back to the site and un-register. It is important that we get an accurate account of the number of participants for each sport.
Please reach out to me or the Athletic Director, Mr. Miller ([email protected]), if you have any further questions.
