SANTA UPDATE!

Eastlake residents,

Santa knows I was a motor officer for the city and has made a request. I can’t refuse the big guy, even though it’s going to be pretty chilly tomorrow. This year I will break out my old leather jacket and I will be riding along side Santa as he travels all of the streets in the city. I am looking forward to seeing everyone that can come out and say hi to Santa as we go through your neighborhoods.

TRACKING SANTA

Santa will start at the east city limits at 8:00am and move systematically through the entire city.

As mentioned in the previous post, we have come up with a tracking link that will be posted tomorrow morning. It is not perfect, as there can be a delay in the location reporting but it will give you an idea of where Santa is in the city within about a minute or two. Santa will also have the lights and siren going, as another indicator that he is close.

I know Santa looks forward to this, let’s show him how much he is appreciated!

Congratulations to Sgt. Tim Nekic, who recently retired from the Mentor Police Department after 33 1/2 years of dedicated service to our community.

Since September 4, 1990, Sgt. Nekic has been an integral part of our department, tirelessly working to protect and serve the citizens of Mentor. As a Field Training Officer, he played a crucial role in shaping the next generation of officers, sharing his wisdom and expertise to countless new recruits.

For an impressive 17 years, he served as a member of our SWAT team, showcasing bravery and resilience in the face of adversity.

His exceptional leadership qualities and dedication to duty did not go unnoticed, as evidenced by his promotion to the rank of Sergeant in 2005. Throughout his career, Sgt. Nekic has exemplified the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, leaving a lasting mark on our department and the community at large.

As Sgt. Nekic embarks on this new chapter of his life, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for his years of service, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication. Your legacy will continue to inspire us, and your presence will be sorely missed within our ranks.
