The “fitting rabbit hole” didn’t stop with the irons. I spent late nights looking for a wedge setup that offered a seamless transition from the X-Forged Max set while maximizing greenside versatility.

The result? A strategic blend. I went with the Ai-150 for the gap wedge to keep that full-swing consistency, paired with the Opus SP in Black Shadow for the 54° and 58°. I opted for the Rifle shafts in the sand and lob—I prefer that heavier feel to help with tempo and flighting down those touch shots.

While shortening the shaft can improve control and contact, doing it correctly requires more than just a saw.

When you cut down a club, you lose significant swingweight. To maintain the proper feel and performance, you must calibrate the head weight to match the new length.

We took this X7 putter for a client in Florida and made it right.

To match his putting style, we cut the shaft down to 33 inches and installed a rare, non-tapered Quad Tour Odyssey edition grip.

We finished the build by squaring the grip on the alignment board to ensure the sight lines and hand position are perfectly dialed in.
