At last night's Board of Directors meeting, I was advised not to take a group to DCI Minnesota or the Open Class show in Rice Lake. After ending operations as a performing group, we do not have the necessary insurance. I strongly advise everyone to attend both shows if at all possible but must follow the Board's directive and not take a group. At the last rehearsal, I failed to realize that going inactive as a Corps would end our ability to operate as an organized group. I apologize for that oversight and hope this does not prevent anyone from attending these excellent events.

The Chippewa Valley Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps is a new and rising Small Drum Corps Association member. So what is a drum corps? That's what we are.
In basic definition, "A drum and bugle corps is a musical marching unit consisting of brass instruments, percussion instruments, and color guard. Drum corps are specialized marching bands. They operate as independent organizations (no scholastic affiliation), who perform in competitions, parades, festivals and other civic functions." - Author Unknown

At the June 9 rehearsal we ended operations of the Chippewa Valley Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps as a performing group. My thanks to everyone who tried so hard to make a success of this venture. We had some very motivated members but could not reach the numbers needed to function as an operating drum and bugle corps. Members present at the last rehearsal received full tuition refunds and turned in their equipment. I will contact those not present to finish that process. We will still provide transportation from Eau Claire to Minneapolis for DCI Minnesota on July 14 for members. Everyone is responsible for their own ticket since we do not have the minimum number needed for group tickets. We will do the same from Eau Claire to Rice Lake on August 1 for the DCI Open Class show there. Watch for details on those two trips. We will need to know who is going to assure we have room for everyone. We will also need an additional chaperon.

Regrettably, it was necessary to cancel our appearance in the Cinder City Days Parade on June 9. Instead, our next rehearsal will be 9:00 am that day at Hass Fine Arts Center. We need everyone present to begin prepairing for our first public appearance July 21 in McHenry, IL. From here on, well attended productive rehearsals are essential if we are to have a successful summer. I have updated the page to reflect a revised appearance schedule as well as our summer rehearsal schedule. Rehearsals will be every Saturday that we are not on the road in June and July. Although we will not be preforming, DCI Minnesota on July 14 will be our first trip. DCI Minnesota is a tremendous show that is not to be missed!
