Stahlman Sinks Spectacular Birdie on Final Hole to Secure First State Win at MGA Mid-Amateur Andy Stahlman clinches his first state title at the MGA Mid-Amateur Championship with a stunning birdie on the final hole, finishing at 9-under par.

Andy Stahlman is the 2026 MGA Mid-Amateur champion.

Stahlman, of The Club at Golden Valley, closed with a 3-under 69 and a birdie from roughly 60 feet at the final hole to reach 9-under 207 and win the 39th playing of the championship by one shot. Five players finished a stroke back at 8-under 208: Ben Greve and Jesse Larson of Olympic Hills Golf Club, Trent Peterson of Bunker Hills Golf Course, Jacques Wilson of MN Golf Community: Metro, and Nick Jarrett of Alexandria Golf Club.

Norgaard and Stahlman in Front to Start MGA Mid-Amateur Matt Norgaard and Andy Stahlman lead the 39th MGA Mid-Amateur Championship after impressive rounds at Brookview Golf Course, showcasing their skills and competitive spirit.

Taylor Ledwein is through to the Round of 32.

The New Prague native, playing as the No. 51 seed, took down No. 14 Nora Klein 3 and 2 Monday in the opening round of match play at the 39th U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur at Montclair Golf Club.

Match play continues Tuesday in West Orange, New Jersey.

23 hikers walked 1,824 holes at The Loop at Chaska on Friday, August 28, in support of the Youth on Course 100 Hole Hike.

Along the way, the group combined for 207 birdies and three holes in one. Steven Kragseth led the field with 24 birdies, while Matt Yancy, Mackenzie Cohen and Matt Newman each made an ace.

More than $72,000 has been raised to date, with donations open through the end of September. Those funds go directly toward expanding access to the game for Minnesota youth, helping young golfers play for $5 or less at more than 150 participating courses across the state.

Thank you to 2nd Swing for powering this year’s hike and to The Loop at Chaska for hosting a day built around a barrier-free approach to golf. And thank you to every hiker and every donor who made it all possible.

On August 29 of 1901, delegates from seven established golf clubs gathered at Meadow-Brook Golf Club in Winona to organize a statewide governing body for the game. The founding clubs — including Town & Country Club (St. Paul), The Minikahda Club (Minneapolis), Rochester Golf Club, Faribault Golf Club, Merriam Park Club, Bryn Mawr Club, and Meadow-Brook Golf Club — represented the core of Minnesota’s early golf community at the turn of the twentieth century.

Their objective was to bring structure and continuity to a rapidly growing sport. By forming the Minnesota Golf Association, these clubs created a unified framework for administering championships, standardizing rules of play, and encouraging cooperation among courses that were often separated by significant geographic distance.
