Had a great time last week at a Paul Krause event with some Viking Greats hosted by Ted Schmolke. Here is part of the interview and story telling session.

🏈On December 26, 1977 “The Mud Bowl” took place at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum between the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Playoffs. Rainfall from the night before had turned the field into a swamp. "We knew it was tough to hold onto the ball, so we just tried to hold on, get what we could and go down and score. It was no day for heroics," said Vikings running back Chuck Foreman, who provided his team with most of their offense. Bob Lee, playing for an injured Fran Tarkenton, completed only 5 passes in the entire game, including none in the second half. But the muddy conditions had thrown off the Rams enough that they didn't score until the final minute of the game. Minnesota won 14-7, shocking everyone at 9.5 point underdogs. The game is also notable for being the final contest in which Joe Namath was on the active roster.🏈

Great Vikings Memories!

🏈On December 30, 1973 the Minnesota Vikings beat the Dallas Cowboys 27-10 in the NFC Championship Game at Texas Stadium. The Vikings forced 4 interceptions and recovered 2 fumbles in the 2nd half while also holding Dallas to 152 total yards en route to victory. We had another fun packed day today, as we toured several sights in Washington Park in Washington, DC. before attending the Nationals vs. Mets game at National Stadium. Some of the sights included the Vietnam Wall, the Changing of the Guard at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery and the Eternal Flame at JFK Gravesite, The Lincoln Memorial, and Washington Memorial. It was a long day, which almost caused some of us to miss our bus to the game.

The game was good too and had the New York Mets defeating the Washington Nationals 6-3. Tomorrow we attend our final game at Yankee Stadium with my hometown team, the Minnesota Twins, taking on the mighty New York Yankees, it should be a good game, before we all head back to our homes scattered across the USA. Go Twins!
